Chabad of San Marcos helps Wimberley celebrate Hanukkah

The Chabad Jewish Center of San Marcos celebrated their second annual Lighting of the Menorah.

Dozens of people attended the celebration held at the Old Mill Store on the Wimberley Square.

For Rabbi Ari Weingarten, the Director of the Chabad Jewish Center of San Marcos, this was not only about bringing the Jewish community of Wimberley together and having a place where they can celebrate Hanukkah but also help celebrate religious diversity.

“We are celebrating religious diversity,” Weingarten said. “And how everybody has their own light, they shine. When everybody lets their light shine, the world is a bit brighter.”

After Weingarten’s speech, Texas State grad student Devora Gleiber played a violin solo for the crowd and also played while the group sang traditional Hanukkah songs.

The celebration was capped off with the lighting of the Menorah.
