Barnabas Connection holds successful Backpack Drive

On Saturday, July 13, the Barnabas Connection held a backpack drive in front of Ace Hardware, accepting donations of new backpacks for the upcoming Back to School Fiesta. For the past 13 years, The Barnabas Connection has supplied backpacks and school supplies for students who have qualified for this assistance. Last year, Barnabas ahs helped over 500 students get ready for school with new backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, vision screening, new books, and a new set of clothes.

“We are grateful to the many community partners who make this event a reality for our students as they go back to school,” Sandy Londa, president of the Barnabas Board of Directors, said. “We want to say thank you to the scores of generous Wimberley residents who donated more than 80 backpacks and over $1000 toward the purchase of the school supplies. Ace Hardware provided the space and a chance at winning a $50 gift card for each person who donated a backpack.”

This year’s Back to School Fiesta will be held on Saturday, August 10, at Wimberley United Methodist Church, 1200 C.R. 1492 from 9-12. If you’d like to make a tax-exempt donation toward purchase of school supplies, you can mail a check to “The Barnabas Connection”, P.O. Box 145, Wimberley, TX, 78676. For information on how to help, call 512-847-1664 or email: [email protected].

In addition to Back to School Fiesta, the Barnabas Connection sponsors the Christmas Store, and Operation Good Shepherd, our help line.

“We could not do what we do without the support of such a loving and generous community,” Londa said.
