Arts Fest builds into one of Wimberley’s premier festivals

For what started as a gathering of a few artists around the Wimberley Square, Arts Fest has truly turned into a local masterpiece.

A total of 110 artists, from 17 different states, attended this year’s Arts Fest, held at The Waters Point on Saturday and Sunday.

“The artists who came from all over the country do art festivals all over the United States, and they said this was the most beautiful venue they had ever set up in,” Jan Fitzhugh, event coordinator of Arts Fest, said. “They also just raved about the hospitality and being in Wimberley. They said it was a treat in itself.”

An estimated 3,000 people attended the festival, a new record attendance.

This year, the Wimberley Valley Art League, which hosts the event, had an interactive painting activity that allowed adults and children to paint on a canvas for $1 per minute. The activity raised almost $1,000, which will be used to fund a scholarship for a local high school senior.

“I thought this was the best Arts Fest we’ve ever had,” Fitzhugh “I also heard from a number of artists that they had record sales during the two-day festival.”
