74th annual VFW Rodeo

The 74th Annual VFW Rodeo may have been the best yet.

“It was the perfect rodeo,” John Thompson, Commander of Wimberley VFW, said.

This year’s rodeo set the attendance record and was full enough for standing room only on the night of July 4. Thompson also believes that it had the most rodeo participants as there were 85 slack rodeo contestants, which are contestants who compete before or after standard rodeo times but are not able to fit into the schedule in front of the crowds.

“In my opinion we have the best production company, the best announcer, the best clown with Leon Coffee and the best cowboys,” Thompson said. “It was great weather. Everybody had great sales reports from the vendors. The weather was absolutely great. It was just a great rodeo.”
