2020 Chamber Business of the Year is a tie
The Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce announced the Business of the Year for 2020 was a tie during the organization’s first in-person luncheon since the beginning of the pandemic
The award went to The Leaning Pear and to The MED SPA. Honorable mention for second and third place respectively were Oldies Burgers & More and Blanco Brew.
“Without a doubt 2020 was by far one of the most challenging years the Wimberley Valley has seen in decades,” Michaelanne Hurst, Executive Director of the chamber said. “With shut downs, Executive Orders coming from the Federal, State and Local governments, and so much uncertainty, no one knew what was going to happen. It was a very trying time, however, Wimberley businesses and our community are amazingly strong. Everyone worked together to keep each other afloat. Today, we are seeing record numbers as people visiting, tourists are coming from all over again, and our community is on its way back, with more and more businesses moving to the Hill Country.”
The chamber also named the Non-Profit of the Year with Barnabas Connection winning the award. Wimberley Valley Radio came in second with WAG and Wimberley EMS placing third.
“Our businesses and non-profit organizations are the backbone of our economy in Wimberley and each year the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce asks our members to vote for Business of the Year and Non-Profit of the Year,” Hurst said.
Alan Marburger was named the Wimberley Convention and Visitors Bureau 2020 Volunteer of the Year.
The first chamber luncheon of 2021 was held on March 17 at Messina Inn.
