POSTER DESIGNED BY PAT RAWLINGS The Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship fund was announced by WVACA

WVACA creates art scholarship in memoriam

The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance (WVACA) announces the launch of the Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship Fund (RMMSF). The scholarship is intended to honor Robert’s legacy and provide education funding for creative Wimberley kids. Tax deductible donations are being accepted now. For more info visit wimberleyarts.org/scholarships.

Robert Duke Moreman, Jr. (1957-2020) was husband of WVACA founder and past president, Cathy Moreman. He was a great supporter of the organization since its inception in 2013 and of arts and culture in this community. Tragically, Robert left us on September 3rd, 2020, a tremendous loss to his family and friends, the Wimberley Valley, WVACA and all who knew him.

Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarships will be awarded annually to graduating seniors from Wimberley High School and Katherine Anne Porter School in Wimberley, Texas. The initial goal is to fund at least two single-year scholarships each year, with an option for more depending on available funds. Fundraising will take place annually through December 31 for awards presented the following year. The scholarship committee will accept students’ applications January through mid-March of their senior year and present the awards in May.

A Unique Scholarship That Reflects WVACA’s Mission and Robert’s Profession

Winning students must have displayed a consistently strong aptitude and interest in one of WVACA’s four pillars – visual, performing, literary and culinary arts – with active plans for continuing education in that field. The fund will honor Robert’s profession as a builder and his passion as a creator by also considering students who plan to pursue careers in the trades as makers, creators and builders.

In talking about the fund, Robert’s wife and Scholarship Committee Member, Cathy Moreman said, “My family and I are enormously grateful to WVACA for creating this scholarship to honor Robert and for the generosity that so many people have already shown in donating to the fund.”
