Wimberley Wheels at Blue Hole

Grab your wheels, whatever type you might have, and ride them on over to Blue Hole Regional Park for Wimberley Wheels on Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“We block off a loop around the park to all traffic and we put up some cones and invite everyone with some wheels to come out and have some fun,” Richard Shaver, operations and program manager for the city of Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department, said. “That is skateboards, roller blades, bikes, everything with wheels.”

The program started following a local petition for a skate park.

“We really wanted to put together a program to serve the need in the community for that type of facility,” Shaver said. “We can’t provide a skate park at this time, but we can provide a space to get together for all wheels.”

It also happens to be a great way to get out of the house.

“It is a great way to get outside since the kids are virtual learning,” Wynne Galpin said. Her husband agreed.

“Where we live, the roads are busy,” Bryan Galpin said. “We can’t really ride bikes out there, so this is great.”

Registration for the event can be done online or at the park. The program is free, but there are waivers that need to be signed before participating. Registration can be found online at cityofwimberley.com under the “Parks and Recreation” tab.
