Wimberley honors Class of 2020 seniors with a parade

After missing out on the events of senior year such as prom and senior skip day, how else could the class of 2020 be honored? Although changing times mandated social distancing, Wimberley High School seniors were still honored by the town, letting them know the town was proud of them and would not let this event go unnoticed.

How to do it, though? With a parade.

They started and lined up at the baseball/softball fields and were part of making an indelible memory for the town and themselves. On their route they would see family, friends and just fellow community members and their cars parked on the side of the road.

Whether a single family or in a group, they were holding up signs to let the students know, that yes, they did reach that milestone of graduating high school, the first chapter of adulthood.

The seniors drove in cars, ranging from a Ferrari to beat up old pickups and made their rounds to each school. First it was a cruise through the back of Jacobs Well Elementary, then the high and junior high schools, finally to Scudder where for most of them, their academic careers started.

“A creative celebration was still held in town to honor the graduates,” Ann Rolling said, while watching and waiting for the parade to pass by.
