VFW remembers with a lunch for Veterans

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny, fall day and a great day to remember those who put their lives on the line for this country. Many Veterans Day events have been canceled across the country but that didn’t stop Wimberley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oldham-Cummings Post #6441 from celebrating a little early with a free BBQ lunch for vets.

VFW volunteers were willing and waiting to serve once again, and deliver mealtime right up to car windows. Also on hand was a Hays County Veteran Services Representatives to help with any veteran affairs problem.

There were over 275 meals served on Saturday by the VFW, their Auxiliary and other volunteers. Whether inside working hard in the kitchen, or delivering on car patrol, smiles abounded with a lot of catching up with old friends and making new ones. Vets exchanged their greetings with which branch, which years served, and “here’s a hearty lunchtime meal,” with a big smile behind the mask.

Happy Veterans Day and thank you!
