Texan Athletes Brave Heat, Prepare for new year
Dozens of Texan athletes spent the summer break keeping their athletic skills sharp and taking their conditioning to a higher level despite some extremely hot weather. The two-hour, four-day camp ran from June 11 through July 26 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
“We ran this camp early in the morning to make sure to get the athletes home by 9:30 a.m. to avoid the extreme heat of the day. We still trained through challenging conditions and our athletes really worked hard,” said Wesley Lambert, Wimberley High School Football Defensive Coordinator. “We are excited and fully expect to see this hard work pay off when these athletes take the fields and courts this school year,” he added.
Coach Lambert and his team of Wimberley High School coaches reinforce proper technique in a motivational environment to enhance the experience of each athlete for any sport. Athletes in the camp benefit by improving performance, preventing injury and building sportsmanship through participating in daily exercises that focus on strength, speed, stability and agility.
Lady Texan volleyball kicks off on August 7, in San Marcos with games against Bastrop and San Marcos high schools. The first game of the season for Texan varsity football is August 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Burnet High School.
