Spring means Pie Social

If you are a newcomer to Wimberley or a long time resident that’s never participated in the Wimberley Institutes of Cultures’ Pie Social, you are missing out on one of the best traditions that any-ole small town can have. And we have one of the best of them.

Here is why it is such a great tradition. Anybody can enter with any recipe they would like. The categories are Nut, Fruit, Cream, Specialty and Kids 12 and under. Pitting yourself against the best bakers in the valley and winning means you have bragging rights for a full year.

Pies are then auctioned off for the charity with the proceeds from the auction benefit the nonprofit organization “formed to recognize and protect the natural, historical, archaeological, and cultural resources of the Wimberley Valley.” They’re the people responsible for the new museum in the historic Winters-Wimberley House.

Here’s the complete rules:

1. All contest entries must be Homemade.

2. You may enter as many pies as you wish.

3. Please use non-returnable pie pans.

4. Bring pies to Wimberley Community Center from 8:30 ~ 9:30 am.

5. Entries will be judged on APPEARANCE, QUALITY and TASTE.

6. There will be First, Second and Third place winners in each category.
