Sometimes grant paperwork is more difficult than the prize

Concerning funds available for flood victims, I applied for the same grant from the same company in San Marcos, and after spending more hours than I like to think about providing the paperwork required, going to San Marcos for several interviews (one at the courthouse) and being told months later that I was eligible for the grant, two individuals came to my property and told me that the only money available was if I were to agree to move out of my house and accept payment from the company, in which case I would be provided for funds to build another home. However, any structure built on my property, even near the road, would have to be elevated, I think 8’. I was merely hoping for some help with a few flood-related problems.

If I had been told upfront what I was told after months and months of meeting the company’s requirements, I would never have applied. I did contact the company, and if I were given correct information this grant is the same as the San Marcos grant. So unless you are willing to move out of your riverfront property, you may not want to apply for this loan.
