Show your Love for the Library

Yes, Covid has changed many things, but one big thing that has not changed is the wonderful programs offered at the Wimberley Village Library. Altered, yes, but there is still a wide, wonderful world to explore, all in one building on FM 2325.

That is why the Friends of the Village Library started the “Show Your Love for the Library” fundraiser campaign.

Friends of the Wimberley Library “help to better the community, by helping provide funds, and volunteer assistance. This enables the library to enhance resources, facilities, and expand services. We also develop programs to meet the cultural, educational and information needs of library users,” according to their website.

And they do just that. In spite Covid restrictions, there’s still many programs going on, whether it is Zoom meetings on special subjects, such as making your will, how to do your taxes, or a video story time for kids, the Friends make it all possible for the library to meet its goal.

For parents of any school aged student, there are science and art kits that can be picked up for your child on a weekly basis. Here are just the listings for the Discovery Club kids during the month of February: 5-Feb, Yarn Sticks; 12-Feb, Air Dry Modeling Clay; 19-Feb, Decorate Book Bags; 26-Feb, Wimberley Science Club.

There are also special programs for teens and adults on handcrafting with kits that can be picked up at the library safely. But here is one drawback, programs like this cost money.

That is where the Friends of the Village Library come in.

During the months of February and March, they are asking people to “Show your Love for the Library” fundraising. Donations will help keep the programs going and growing with the community. See their webpage at wimberleylibrary.org/friends-of-the-wimberley-village-library/
