Painting to be raffled for scholarship donations

In the midst of hunting season, a new opportunity has come along for those who hang a different kind of remembrance on the wall, and the entire project goes towards a good cause.

The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance is asking for donations to the Robert Mormon Memorial Scholarship Fund. All funds received by December 31 will be awarded to 2022 graduates of local high schools.

To entice a little extra giving spirit, Pitzer’s Fine Arts has donated a signed and numbered Giclee’ (High Pigment Ink Canvas) of artist Jan Martin McGuire’s Big Game Deer as a raffle prize for December 2021 donors. McGuire is an acclaimed artist and naturalist who paints nature’s diversity. The print is on a 36” x 24” canvas (44.5” x 32.5” framed) and is valued at $1,850.

This framed limited edition artwork will be on display at the Wimberley Village Library throughout December. Stop in to see it and purchase raffle tickets anytime during the library’s open hours. Tickets are $20 for one ticket, $50 for three tickets and $100 for 5 tickets (cash or check only at the library), and 100% of the proceeds will go to the scholarship recipients.
