Library starts a very crowded summer program

Kazoo the Dragon and Vanessa were the headliners of the program, but for a morning to have the kids entertained, it was wonderful event. The packed in crowed showed just how popular the Wimberley Village Library programs are. The Friends of the Library sponsored the program and for a kickoff it sure was successful.

Over a 160 little ones and their parents watched the antics of the dragon. “This is why we need the expansion,” Pat Galvin of the library’s Teen Services said. “We have no facilities for the handicapped. The lack of size also cuts the attendance down, especially of the small children and tweens.”

After the antics of the dragon, the children were able to get their face painted by volunteer Georgia Robinson or ride one of Jon Ed Bluestone’s horses. For the kids there was also Wimberley Shave Ice, a petting zoo and an EMS Ambulance; it certainly was a great kickoff for the kids and the library.

The Summer Reading Incentive Program is in effect until August 10. By reading books, children can receive prizes like free snow cones, zoo passes, and more. There are also programs weekdays Monday through Friday for ages 0 through 12th Grade, with Wacky Wednesday’s performance for all ages.

There is something for everyone at the Village Library. For more information on the weekly events at the library, please see the Wimberley Village Library website at : wimberleylibrary.org .
