KWB column runs for 25 years

For the past twenty-five years, Keep Wimberley Beautiful has provided an article on some aspect of keeping our environment clean, beautiful and environmentally healthy. This column first appeared in The Wimberley View on September 24, 1994. It was Charles McClure, editor of the View at that time, who suggested that we might like to do that. We enthusiastically agreed to do so. One thing he said was that if we agreed to it, we must write a column every week, not just once a month or when we feel like it. Thus began our quarter of a century of writing a weekly column, and as best I can remember, we may have missed only week of not having had a column appear in the paper.

Dawn Teague and Martha Knies wrote the column for years; then Wendy Lovejoy and Martha and now Jackie Mattice and Martha. We hope you have enjoyed reading these columns and we hope you have learned from them, too. Even more, we hope the columns have motivated all of us to do more and to do better… meaning, of course, more beautification, more recycling, more litter pick-ups and so on. We think Wimberley is a beautiful and relatively clean community. We want to thank our merchants and our citizens for making it happen. Sooooo, a big and hearty THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERYONE.
