Keep Wimberly Beautiful

Wimberley shopkeepers

We all acknowledge that Wimberley is a beautiful little town. We know, too, that it’s natural setting in a lovely valley blessed with plenty of greenery, unexpected Texas hills (especially the Twin Sisters), Blanco River, and Cypress Creek create this natural beauty. However, I think we should thank our business owners on and around the square for the many hours and dollars they invest in keeping their shops clean and attractive.

When I drive through the square, I love to see the potted plants, the hanging baskets, the little gardens so well-tended, and the attractive displays of merchandise. It is all of these special touches that help to make Wimberley so charming. This week I would like to publicly thank some of them. Please forgive me if I leave out some of your favorites. Here, though, are a teensy few of mine.

The Wimberley Cafe--I love the long brick walls in front of the porch where small beds are inlaid along the top. These beds are carefully planted and cared for so that seasonal flowers are always in bloom. They add so much color and simple beauty year round.

The Old Mill Store also has lovely stone beds planted with seasonal greens and flowers as does the next door Cedar Chest where a small garden bed has just recently been restored with new flowering small plants and shrubs. Pitzer’s Art Gallery is always delightful with its colorful flowers, shrubs and of course, the outstanding sculptures both inside and outside its walls.

The Old Kyle Road has sprung into new life with all the new places within The Lumberyard, including a clothing shop, the Wimberley Radio Station and the Community Pizza place.

Their outdoor plants, baskets, playground, and climbing sculpture are superb.

Lack of space prohibits me listing any more, but this article allows me to pass on the thanks of Keep Wimberley Beautiful and all the good folks of Wimberley for every one of the merchants who spend time and money to beautify their business and our precious little town.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
