Jesse Dayton at Susanna’s Kitchen

Jesse Dayton is a legendary guitarist who can be heard playing guitar and adding vocals on albums by Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Ryan Bingham, and Willie Nelson. For years he had a Thursday night residency at the famous Broken Spoke. Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse is proud to announce that Jesse Dayton will be making his debut performance on the Susanna’s Kitchen stage on October 17.

Growing up on the Texas-Louisiana border, Dayton’s musical influences included honky-tonk, zydeco, country and western, and rockabilly, apprenticing himself in zydeco and honky-tonk bands. He even took a side trip into punk rock and heavy metal as a young man, before returning to his roots of rockin’ outlaw country music.

More than 50 of his songs have been licensed to television and film, and Dayton has even done a stint of acting, writing, and directing.

Besides collaborations with other artists, Dayton has 11 studio albums of mostly original music including his 2016 release of The Revealer and 2018’s The Outsider. His most recent release, Mix Tape Volume 1, comes at the end of an intense five years on tour and recording albums of original music. So this album was a way to kick back and have fun. It covers songs by Neil Young, ZZ Top, Jackson Brown, ACDC, the Cars, and even Elton John. American Songwriter’s review of the album calls it “a hell of an enjoyable ride.”

You won’t want to miss Jesse Dayton on October 17 at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse, located at Wimberley United Methodist Church (corner RR 12 & CR 1492). The concert starts at 7:30, and doors open by 7:00 p.m. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee, and soft drinks are available. Tickets are sold at the door ($20 for adults’ admission, $5 for kids (under 18). Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Operation Good Shepherd, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, and Bright Beginnings Preschool.
