Home Tour returns

The Home Tour is back! The 33rd Annual Hill Country Home Tour gets underway April 16 & 17 with four outstanding homes. Featured this year are Ken & Yvette Stranges’ Spoon Mountain Glamping property that showboats South African safari tents with all the luxuries. Intended as commercial vacation rentals, the three tents are sited beneath a grove of oaks and back up to Spoon Mountain. Interiors reflect safari themes.

Three Hills Ranch, a home situated on 46 acres on the outskirts of Wimberley, is another outstanding property on the tour. While the house resembles an historic Texas home, it is actually an off-grid, sustainable structure that utilizes geo-thermal heating, solar energy, and other innovations. The interior is warm and inviting with French country-inspired furnishings.

Next on the tour is a spacious, split-level home with extensive panoramic views. Sited on a hillside, it overlooks the Blanco river, Old Baldy, Twin Sisters, and miles of the Wimberley Valley. The well-designed interior is meant to accommodate large gatherings and family activities. Numerous conversation areas lend themselves to river gazing and other restful entertainment.

The fourth property is a complete rebuild of a home that was ruined in the 2015 flood. Dismayed by the loss, the owners deliberated long before deciding to demolish and rebuild. The location along the Blanco proved to be too good to give up. With great attention to detail, the owners created a serene, Hill Country modern home that reflects a South Dakota heritage. It is an exceptional blend of old treasures and a sleek design.

Presented by the Wimberley Community Civic Club, the home tour usually includes a Kick-Off party the evening before the tour commences. Organizers chose to forego the party this year and moved the auction online. Featuring more than 30 experientially-focused items, the auction is designed to help bidders return to the world of friends, fun, and purpose, post-Covid isolation. It goes live April 1 and is accessed through the Civic Club’s website, wimberleyccc.org.

The tour goes from 10am – 4pm both days, Friday and Saturday, and Covid precautions are incorporated throughout. Tickets are $25 and go on sale April 1 at wimberleyccc.org, the Civic Club’s website. After April 5, tickets can be picked up at the Wimberley Visitor’s Center. A major fundraiser, the Home Tour helps raise money for 25 area nonprofits, charities, and scholarships.
