Guests stumped at Civic Club Murder Mystery dinner

An abundance of motives, means and opportunities confronted guests at the Civic Club’s Murder Mystery Dinner held at Vintage Oaks Farm Oct. 14 as they tried to solve the demise of a popular restaurateur. Participants sifted through clues and witnessed numerous accusations over wine and outstanding Italian fare from Miss Red’s catering. Nine characters, all with ample reasons to slay the deceased, were made real by the actors of Wimberley High School’s Lonestar Theatre. Director Rhonda Riali staged actors throughout the ballroom, keeping guests actively involved in the process.

Civic Club organizer Becky Williams awarded prize baskets at the end of the evening. “The evening was wonderfully congenial as guests engaged in spirited conversation throughout the performance. For many, this was their first time to attend a mystery dinner and their first Civic Club event. It was gratifying to hear several tables say they wanted to do more things like this. We thank our donors Bill and Sissy Baskin of Vintage Oaks Farm, Miss Red’s Catering, Nancy Williams, Hill Country Spir its, Los Olivos Market, Hill Country Wine Shop, Mad Roosters, Teresa Kendrick and Guy Ben-Moshe, Steve and Pam Eakin, and Melinda and Craig Miller for their generosity.”

Plans for more than 30 activities, workshops, and trips are underway for the Wimberley Community Civic Club’s Spring Events, beginning early in 2022. Open to the public, all activities raise money for area nonprofits and scholarships.
