Future landscaping

In my last column, I wrote about what effect leaving our home landscaping and entire neighborhood landscaping in a more natural state could have on our climate. Two readers told me that they really appreciated that column. I am wondering if more readers would be willing to comment on this landscaping change of direction.

Such a change would mean a lot less work for the homeowner, a lot less use of water, a lot less noise for the neighborhood, more habitat for our native plants and wildlife, pollinators such as bees and others, and who knows what else. Would you be comfortable if your yard and neighborhood adopted this kind of yard maintenance?

My own neighborhood exemplifies some of this kind of landscaping. A few yards do not.

Might your neighborhood associations consider reviewing their landscaping ordinances? Do let me hear your thoughts and perhaps I can then write about what I hear from you.

Thanks a bunch.
