Friends of the Library’s Book Sale is can’t miss

Believe it or not this is the Thirteenth Annual Book Sale by the Wimberley Village Library, and it promises to be bigger and better by offering lots more than books.

“Not just books. There are DVDs, CDs, board games and puzzles. We want everyone to come take a look. There’s a big selection of puzzles and games,” Kristy Seamans, co-organizer of the event said. “People that have shopped before have come back. This year there are even Christmas ornaments.”

The sale was started in thirteen years ago.

“In 2006 we were on the front porch (of the Library). We moved outdoors, across the street, to Chapel of the Hills. Then we moved to their Fellowship Hall when it got too big. It was too nerve-racking thinking about the weather,” co-organizer for the sale, Lynda Blackistone said.

“This year there will be new categories available on certain tables. We’ll have a retro table for baby boomers…a table expressly for Texas including Texas Cookbooks, books on famous Texans, and geography. There’s also an America table,” Kristy said.

The organization was formed to help out the Library, an integral part of the community. “What they need, we do,” Kristy said.

The preview starts on October 18 Friday, from 1 to 5 p.m. for members only. But don’t worry if you are not a member. Memberships at the door can be purchased for $10. Being early you can get the first look at the valuable book, games and other items that will be on sale.

On Saturday October 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. it is open to the general public with specials throughout the day. So make your plans now to not only to help the Wimberley Village Library, but to stock your personal library well, and who knows what you will find amongst the thousands and thousands of books.
