Exciting lineup for Tuesday Night Arts

If you haven’t yet tuned in for the monthly Tuesday Night Arts Zoom-cast, co-produced by the Wimberley Parks and Recreation and Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance, you’ll have another opportunity next Tuesday, March 9, 7-9 pm. The event was created to support artists during COVID and provide a venue for our community to become familiar with and inspired by the fabulous creative folk who live here. During this FREE, family-friendly virtual program, local artists from the visual, literary, culinary, and performing arts are interviewed and give tours of their studios or demonstrations of their craft, giving viewers a behind-thescenes look at the creative process.

LITERARY ARTS Don Minnick, Jim McJunkin, Jan Fitzhugh, Authors/Photographer/ Web Designer, Some Artist 7:00 – 7:30 pm Don Minnick and his wife Rebecca are long-time art enthusiasts and own work from over 40 Wimberley area artists. As an author, he is currently collaborating with photographer, Jim McJunkin and website designer, Jan Fitzhugh on a book/web project about Wimberley-area artists called, Some Artist. Professionally, Don is a licensed psychologist who has worked in clinical practice and more recently consulted with Fortune 500 organizations around strategy, business culture and executive assessment. linkedin.com/in/donald-minnick-1947148

Jim McJunkin has been making photographs for over half a century. After a brief formal arts training in drawing, painting and design, he became a still photographer for the US Army in Vietnam. Since then, Jim has been involved in art and photography shows around the country. He has photographs in the permanent collection at the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago and locally at the Laguna Gloria Art Museum, Mexicarte Museum, The LBJ Library, City Hall, The Texas State Cap itol. jmcjunkin.com

Jan Fitzhugh spent 30 years in executive management of senior living communities and senior healthcare, before moving to Wimberley to pursue a second career in the arts. Today she’s an artist and an owner/managing partner of Wimberley’s Art on 12 Gallery. She also enjoys writing as a hobby and is collaborating on Some Artist project, managing the website. arton12.com

CULINARY David and Jess Bober, Owners, Jobell’s Cafe 7:30 – 8:00 David Bober, a Bronx New York City kid, and his wife Jess Bober, a Texas native moved to Wimberley in 2013 in search of a simpler life. VISUAL Jim Street, Artist 8:00 – 8:30 pm A lifelong painter, Jim Street is a watercolor artist in Wimberley, Texas with BFA degree in painting from the University of Florida. Artwork had to take back-seat during a 22-year military career that took him around the world and introduced him to many of the scenes that he now paints. His subject matter varies from old vehicles to old architecture to city scenes. Jim is a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society. His work is held by collectors around the US and is shown locally at Pitzers Gallery. jimstreet.com
