Event to help plan for Wimberley’s future
The Wimberley Valley is very special to residents and visitors alike. The river and creeks, shops, and the small town atmosphere is a lure to retirees and young couples alike. Keeping this town unique and livable for the future is a big undertaking and everyone has a voice and suggestions, not just the city and county officials.
The individuals that live in the valley should be able to voice their opinion about issues that concern each of us. These are such things as:
• Protecting our environment,
• Manage looming growth and development
• Create a welcoming community for all ages
• Ensure a resilient local economy
These serious types of questions are needed to look at and residents are asked to promote serious answers. There’s an organization, 7th Generation Labs that would like ideas from the valley.
“We want to hear from everyone — youth, parents, teachers, dreamers, business owners, creatives, community leaders, volunteers — and especially from you. We’ll share what we care about, connect with others who like our ideas and identify next steps for creating what we imagine,” Stephanie Nestlerode of 7th Generation Labs said. She continued.
“We feel this is a timely opportunity to bring the community together … We have WISD and KAPS as community partners and we’ve created a youth council to help us design the day and get young people to attend. Our goal is to have 50% youth and 50% adults.”
There are local engineers, artists and musicians involved to plan for the future. The organization is non-partisan. It all happens on Sunday May 19 at the Community Center.
