Cypress Creek Trail

Keep Wimberley Beautiful has landscaped the trailhead of the downtown Cypress Creek Trail. This trailhead is on Old Kyle Road between the shoe store and the Lumberyard parking area. The public restrooms, a pavilion, a young children playscape, picnic tables, a chimney swift information kiosk and a water feature are located at the trailhead.

There is a new “sandwich board” portable sign on the sidewalk in front of the trailhead. It announces the Saturday free half hour interpretive walks on the Cypress Creek Trail. These walks are led by Hays County Master Naturalists at 11 a.m. on Saturdays. The goal of these walks is to inform interested persons about the healthy riparian corridor found in the preserve. Facts about Cypress Creek, the geology of the region, how the effects of floods are naturally mitigated and identification of local native plants are included in the presentation as participants stroll down the path.

I hope to see you there some Saturday morning.
