Chapel in the Hills Easter Egg Hunt
“69th Annual.” That’s what the sign in front of Chapel of the Hills said. The year was 1950 and Harry S. Truman was president. Many, many different kids enjoyed their dashing and gathering eggs for Easter.
Cindy and Steve Meeks have attending the egg hunt for 48 years. This year was attended by three generations of the Meeks, as it was for many other families, with grandparents, parents and now the grandkids attending and having a great time.
The amount of jelly beans that were in a jar made a few kids happy when they guessed correctly. With numerous bunny ears, and the Easter bunny himself, at hand it could not have been more festive. The kids were very patient and then the big time had come. Time to hunt down and get those eggs.
Each child also received a book of colorful bedtime Bible stories to read. Surely there was enough sugar and candy to get the kids through to the next morning. It was a welcome time and a tradition that has blessed Wimberley for 69 years. Here’s to another 69!
