Austin Lounge Lizards at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse on June 21

The Austin Lounge Lizards have been blazing a wickedly funny musical trail through topics as varied as politics, love, popular culture and how to handle long-winded barflies for 38 years now, using bluegrass, country, and Texas swing as the backdrop for their hilarious and satirical lyrics. Or, as they put it, “spoofing the topics American families try to avoid at the Thanksgiving table.” The Lizards will return to Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse on the third Thursday in June

Quintessential Lizards songs feature fiendishly clever lyrics that poke fun at everything within reach and well beyond. Combined with their tight four-part vocal harmonies and instrumental deftness, the band’s music gets its punch from catchy melodies, topical but surprisingly ageless lyrics, and their use of eclectic musical styles that fit their songs.

The Austin Lounge Lizards are five-time award winners at the prestigious Austin Music Awards and have delighted audiences from California to Canada to the United Kingdom with their original style of satirical folk, country and bluegrass. The band has even been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition.

You won’t want to miss this unique, hilarious evening with the Austin Lounge Lizards on June 21 at Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse, located at Wimberley United Methodist Church (corner RR 12 & CR 1492). The concert starts at 7:30. Pizza, tamales, pie, coffee, and soft drinks are available. Tickets are sold at the doors, which open by 7:00 p.m. $20 for adults, $5 for kids. Proceeds benefit The Barnabas Connection, Operation Good Shepherd, Camp Good Sam Wimberley, and Bright Beginnings Preschool.
