. Art League Studio Tour this weekend

A small town nestled in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, Wimberley provides home, community and inspiration to a remarkable variety of artists, from the internationally acclaimed to emerging talent. Many of these artists will open the doors to their creative inner sanctums as part of the Wimberley Valley Art League’s annual studio tour, Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29.

Outstanding Hill Country artists will welcome visitors and collectors into their private studios. Located in and around Wimberley, these spaces feature fine art, and a glimpse into the artist’s creative process, all set in dramatic Hill Country locations. Participating artists work in a full range of media: oil, acrylic, assemblage, photography, leather, metal, jewelry, ceramic and more. There will be a total of 20 artists showing their work in the five participating studios.

Of special interest during this year’s tour, award winning artist, Lilli Pell will open her studio and show her work. She will also show the work of many of her students and there will be ongoing demonstrations throughout the weekend of her teaching methods, as she works with her students.

Also, on the tour this year are James and Rosemary Barta. They’ll show and demonstrate their work in functional and decorative pottery and paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor. Trisha McWaters will open her studio and show photography and mixed media. She will also be host to Rebecca Briley and Tom Wiley, both very talented painters.

Kim Springer-Smith will show and sell her beautiful work, in a variety of mediums, in her Woodcreek studio. Jan Fitzhugh will also open her studio to show handcrafted original jewelry and leatherwork by Carl Fitzhugh. In the studio with Jan, will be Martha Gibson and Cleve Ragan, both mixed media artists.

The tour is free of charge. The map and additional information is available at the Wimberley Visitor’s Center, Art on 12 Gallery and on the website www.wimberleyartleague.org
