Because this is the Keep Wimberley Beautiful (KWB) column, you may wonder how KWB gets the money to fund all its projects. They award grants for beautification projects such as the kiosk up on Hilltop Park on RR 12, planting seeds on roadsides and school grounds, decorations around town, refurbishing Welcome to Wimberley signs, refurbishing Martha Knies Park, some Emily Ann plantings, funding various trash and recycle receptacles and so much more. 06/02/2022 12:00 AM

Pete is easy-going and a sensitive guy — sensitive meaning he pays attention. He’s very respectful of other dogs, taking cues and adjusting his play style. Pete is not a pushy or barky dog and he responds really well to verbal praise and correction. Pete is a cattle dog mix, 18 months old and weighs 39 pounds. If you are interested in Pete or any other dog, fill out a WAG adoption application at www.wimberleywagrescue.org or call 512-847-3200. 06/02/2022 12:00 AM

Boy Scouts of Wimberley Troop 127 took part in honoring those soldiers and sailors who gave the ultimate sacrifice. On Saturday morning, the troops gathered at the Wimberley Cemetery. With help from the Wimberley VFW, the troop placed flags on the graves of those veterans who are no longer with us. Memorial Day used to be known as Decoration Day, which originated following the Civil War. It officially became a federal holiday in 1971 establishing the last Monday in May to commemorate the men and women who died while in the military service, according to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
