Tennis advances six to regional tourney
Texan tennis has enjoyed success. They are the reigning state champions in team tennis from this past fall with the Texan’s district producing either the state champion or runner up since as far back as 2015. Last year’s spring state championship in boys doubles was a battle between two Wimberley teams for the second year in a row and the mixed doubles team made it to the final four at the state tournament. Success breeds within the program.

Soccer storms, stumbles in playoffs
Wimberley High School’s Lady Texan soccer has been successful. Playoffs are now expected as are seeding in the top couple of spots from one of the toughest 4A districts in the state.

Wimberley High School’s Texan baseball entered the spring with high hopes for a good run in district and a dream for a championship. Now, both seem like a distant memory.

Softball searches for success in struggles
Wimberley’s Texan softball (1-2 district) closed out the first half of their district season last week. The first half has been difficult as the ladies won the opening district contest versus Canyon Lake in dramatic fashion then falling in the subsequent games to both Bandera and Fredericksburg. They would get an opportunity to draw their record even against Davenport in Garden Ridge last Tuesday.

Academic team dominates district
The Wimberley High School UIL Academic Team dominated the District 27-4A Academic Meet, winning with a staggering 604 points — 342 points more than second place Fredericksburg High School.

Construction to begin on FM 3237 and RR 12
Last week, the Wimberley City Council discussed the plans for the expanded intersection of county-owned FM 3237 with RR 12, which is owned by the Texas Department of Transportation. A day later, the Hays County Commissioners Court approved the bid for the project to Aaron Concrete Contractors, LLC.
