Market Day makes music
The hills will be alive with the sound of music as Wimberley Market Day occurs on Saturday, May 7. An outstanding lineup of popular music makers take the three stages at Lions Field to help usher in the spring season in Wimberley. On the Pavilion Stage is the always popular Wimberley Valley Big Band. Their orchestrated renditions of American songbook classics is a perfect match for a beautiful spring day at Wimberley Market Day. On the Shady Grove Stage is country singer and songwriter Cheyenne Saenz of San Antonio. Chey enne, whose voice has been compared to Kasey Chambers, recently played the Austin Rodeo. Lyda Plummer plays the Hill Top Stage. Lyda, from Galveston, Texas, is a singer and songwriter whose work has been recorded. All the music is free at Market Day and goes naturally with a cool drink and delicious Market Day food. The music begins on each stage around 11:00 a.m. 05/05/2022 12:00 AM

Primrose Wildflowers
Primrose Wildflowers
Although we have yet to receive a good drenching rain as of this writing (Easter weekend), some native wildflowers are blooming. One of my favorites is Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa) that forms pink drifts along busy roadsides. 05/05/2022 12:00 AM

A little help on River Road please
A little help on River Road please
Anyone that lives, drives , bikes or walks on River Road knows that there are a lot more people that go 45-50mph than go 25mph which is the posted speed limit. Twenty-five does seem slow but there is a reason that it is set at this limit. From where you turn onto River Road ( just past the Sugar Shack) until you get to the stop sign at Wayside, it is almost exactly one mile. There are no sidewalks and in some areas very little shoulder to walk. In fact, in that one mile stretch, there is the blind curve on the hill past Creekside and the single lane bridge crossing Wilson Creek where there is no room beside the road whatsoever. 05/05/2022 12:00 AM
