Arctic blast grips Wimberley
Based on weather forecasts from the National Weather Service, the Wimberley Independent School District, the Katherine Anne Porter School and the Blanco River Academy closed schools on Tuesday. Both WISD and Blanco River Academy anticipated a delayed start for classes on Wednesday, January 17.

Knights Prepare for Casino Night on February 3
The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus are facing cold weather this week to put up reminder banners announcing their annual Mardi Gras Casino Night. The Mardi Gras Casino Night is Saturday, February 3, from 6 to 10 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Activity Center, 14711 Ranch Road 12. Casino Gaming, dinner, dessert, open bar and prize draw- ings are all part of the fun. Beneficiaries of the Casino Night event are the Wimberley Valley Emergency Responders for their Appreciation Luncheon held on March 21.

Volunteers needed for homeless count
The Homeless Coalition of Hays County is coordinating the Point In Time Count taking place January 25. The Point In Time Count is an annual census of people who are experiencing homelessness and is mandated by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Lady Texans face Panthers in district matchup
On Tuesday night the Wimberley Texans (17-11) went on the road to take on the Navarro Panthers (20-9) in a district matchup game. The Texans were unable to pull out a win in a close one losing to the Panthers 6458.

Texans defeat Navarro Panthers, 63-52
On Tuesday night The Wimberley Texans (13-9) took on the Navarro Panthers (7-13) in Wimberley in a district matchup game. The Texans had no problem with the Panthers winning 63-52 giving the Texans their 14th win on the season and holding them in that 4th place spot in district.
