Wimberley winter sports teams get back into action

Just as the 2018-2019 Wimberley Texans’ Winter sports season began and hoopsters, swimmers and other sportsters began to mold into teams, everything came to a screeching for the Thanksgiving break!

Hopefully the following short update of local high sports schedules will help parents and other fans to catch up with the Wimberley’s school teams returning to competition this week.

The Wimberley Texan Girls varsity basketball squad will open post-Thanksgiving play on Tuesday November 27 away at Gonzales. The freshman and JV teams play 5:00 with the varsity game starting at 6:30. The Wimberley varsity girls then play on November 29 –through Saturday, December 1 in the Navarro Tournament (game times to be announced).

However, Wimberley’s junior varsity and freshmen girls will compete November 29 through December 1 at the Giddings tournament (game times to be announced.)

The boys’ basketball team also will open the new part of the season on Tuesday, November 27 but away against San Antonio Fox Tech. Freshmen and JV teams play at 6:00 with the Varsity playing at 5:00. Then on November 29 through December 1, the JV and Freshmen squads go to the Burnet. However, the Texan varsity will play in the two-day Marion Varsity Tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 30 and December 1.

The Texan swimmers will dive into competition on December 1 at the Winter Classic to be held at Buret-Gallowy Hammond Recreation Center.
