Wimberley 4-H Memorial Day Rodeo
The Wimberley Memorial Day Open Pro Rodeo was a big success over the weekend drawing many fans to stands and seeing local, in-state, and out-of-the-country cowboys and cowgirls compete to see who is the best.
The rodeo is an important event for the Wimberley Valley as it not only helps honor the fallen soldiers who’ve died in battle, but it also serves as the Wimberley 4-H’s Fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the club to help with their livestock projects, scholarships and the club general fund.
The rodeo, which was produced by the Lester Meier Rodeo Company, saw many events from bareback and saddle bronc riding, tie down and break away roping, barrel racing, team steer roping, and bull riding.
Some of the younger cowboys were also able to compete as they participated in mini bull riding and mini saddle bronc riding.
The kids also participated with four rounds of mutton bustin’ to see who would hang on to their sheep the longest as well as participated in a calf scramble.
