Volleyball win streak snapped

With the final week of non-district play at hand, the Texan volleyball team hoped to finish strong before the start of district play.

The Texans started the week with a home game against Germino Navarro Panthers Tuesday night.

After splitting the first two sets (25-19, 14-25,) the Texans came back to win an important third set in a hard-fought 25-20 win to take a 2-1 lead.

The fourth and final set ended in complete domination as the Texans rolled the Panthers for an emphatic 25-10 win to win the match 3-1.

Paige Crawford led the team in kills with 11 while Ryhan Masur and Briana Jones both led the team in aces with 3 apiece. Jones also led the team in blocks with 5.

Wimberley then traveled on the road Ingram Moore to finish out the non-district play Friday Night.

Similar to their battle with Navarro, both the Texans and the Warriors split the first two sets (22-25, 25-21).

After the Texans won the third set at 25-22, the Warriors stormed back to take the fourth set at 25-22 and force a final fifth set.

In a hard-fought battle, it was the Warriors who came out on top with a 15-10 victory.

Crawford was once again the leader in kills with 22 while Jones led the team in blocks with 5. Analyse Detmer led the team in blocks with 2.

The loss snaps an 11 game winning streak for the Texans.

The Wimberley Texans now set their eyes to defending their district crown against Bandera, Boerne, Canyon Lake, and Fredericksburg.

The Greyhounds look to be an early challenger for the district crown after finishing non-district with a 10-2 record.

The Texans start district play with the aforementioned Greyhounds Tuesday on the road at Boerne before finishing the week at home against the Comal Davenport Wolves, who were originally apart of district play but opted out.
