Texans roll in big district opening win

The Wimberley Texans football team rolled to a victory in their district opener against Manor New Tech as the Texans defeated the Titans 88-0.

Wimberley improves to 6-1 while Manor New Tech falls to 0-3.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Titans gained a couple of first downs before the Texans sacked the quarterback on 3rd down to force the punt.

The Texans scored on their opening drive after moving the ball well on the Titans defense before Junior running back Moses Wray scored from 20 yards out to take an early 7-0 lead.

On the second play of the Titans offensive drive following the kickoff, Junior Josh Prado picked off the pass for the first interception of the game to give the ball back to Wimberley.

The very next play, senior quarterback Matthew Tippie found Senior wide receiver Ty Pruitt for the 30-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead at 14-0.

Manor New Tech’s next drive ended in disaster as the Titans fumbled the ball in the endzone which ended up being recovered by senior Cole Schroder to make the game 21-0.

Following a Titans punt on the next drive, the very next play saw Tippie finding senior wide receiver Jaxon Watts on the 52-yard touchdown pass to extend the already huge lead at 28-0.

As the Titans faced third down, Manor New Tech fumbled the ball once again and Junior John Boyle picked up the ball and returned it 19 yards for the touchdown. It was the Code Red Defense’s second score of the game making the game 35-0.

The next drive for the Titans ended once again in a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown as Nova Rankins returned the ball 12 yards for the score to extend the lead at 42-0.

After forcing Manor New Tech to punt from their own five-yard line, the punter stepped on the back endzone line resulting in a safety in favor of Wimberley making the score 44-0.

On the next drive, Junior Jack Bruner kicked a 30- yard field goal and extending the lead at 47-0 as the first quarter came to a close.

Following another Titans punt, the Texans offensive drive ended when Watts scored his second touchdown of the game this time running for a 23-yard score to make the game 53-0.

Another punt by Manor New Tech ended with another touchdown drive by Wimberley as Junior running back Juan Olmedo scored on a 44-yard run to extend the lead at 61-0.

Olmedo scored the final touchdown of the first half scoring a 32-yard touchdown run to make the halftime score 68-0.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Texans scored as Tippie found Pruitt on a wide receiver screen which Pruitt scored from 80 yards out to extend the lead at 75-0.

Junior running back Chris Schatte scored the final touchdown of the game scoring from 16 yards out.

Bruner tacked on two field goals before the final buzzer kicking from 26 yards out, and 38 yards out to make the final score 88- 0.

The offense churned up 514 yards of offense with 294 yards rushing against the Titans defense.

The Code Red defense produced three touchdowns of their own with the fumbles all recovered and returned for touchdowns.

The Texans will return home as Wimberley will battle the Austin Eastside Memorial Panthers. The Panthers are 0-2 with losses to Geronimo Navarro and Austin Achieve.
