In the third Wimberley was able to battle off the Panthers and retake their nine point lead to give themselves a cushion going into the last eight minutes of basketball. “These games are a great learning experience for our young guys,” Head Coach Mike Whitten said. “We’re gonna be in other games like that and I know we can learn and take something from this the next time we are in this situation” What started off as a very low scoring game turned into a shootout as the Texans were down 16-11 going into the third quarter. In the third quarter the Texans started getting good looks and taking advantage of them. As their three point shots started falling they cut into the lead tying it up early in the third at 19 a piece and then eventually taking the lead later on in the third giving themselves a 40-32 lead going into the 4th quarter lead as both teams started heating up as they doubled their first half points. In the 4th the Texans struggled offensively again as they were only able to add 6 points in the fourth which was not enough to hold off Canyon Lake as they scored 15 in the fourth quarter to take the game 47-46 in a one point barnburner.
