Tennis team named bi-district champions
The Texan tennis team played Lampasas last Wednesday in Pflugerville for the Bi-District Championship, Coach Lauren Huse reported. “The Texans went up 6-1 after doubles, but then lost the mixed doubles in a third set tie-breaker. However, we went on to win the second, third and fourth boys’ singles matches and second girls’ singles to close out the match.”
The final victory was 10-2.
“The kids had great attitudes even though the weather conditions were worse than favorable,” the coach reported after the matches.
Previously, Wimberley played Taylor in Bastrop after several game-site switches due to rainstorms. The Texans won 10-0 and were scheduled to meet Boerne this past Tuesday in New Braunfels. With a win at New Braunfels, the Texans would move on to the regional semi-finals in Corpus Christi.
