Softball tournament cut short after cancellation

The Wimberley Texans softball team was scheduled to compete at the San Marcos Rattler Spring Break Classic over the weekend but was unfortunately cut short due to the UIL putting a hold on all spring competitions

Competing just on Thursday only, the Texans were set for pool against Weimar, Odessa Permian, Bishop Lynch, and Yoakum.

Playing the Weimar Wildcats in the first game of the day, the Texans were no-hit by the Wildcats in a 4-0 loss. Weimar struck early in the game scoring four runs in the first inning on route to the win.

Wimberley took on Bishop Lynch in the second game of the day. The Texans found themselves in a hole early in the first inning down 5-1. But a triple by Elli Davis scored one run and a RBI single by ReAnn Maino cut the lead down to 5-3.

A sac fly by Maylie Albardo scored one more run for the Texans to cut the lead down to one but it was not enough as Bishop Lynch closed out the inning for the 5-4 win.

Wimberley battled the Odessa Permian Panthers in the third game of the day. The Panthers three runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings as Permian shut down the Texan offense for a 6-0 loss for Wimberley.

In the final game of the day, Wimberley took on Yoakum in a rematch from the Texan Softball Classic.

Unlike the last game where it was a close battle, the Texans were up on the Bulldogs from the start. Scoring in all three innings including a six run 2nd inning, Wimberley trounced Yoakum in a 11-0 to end the tournament on a high note.

With play suspended till March 29, the Texans will resume play March 31 against Boerne if nothing else changes.
