District awards announced for Lady Texan Volleyball

Monday December 2 the Lady Texan Volleyball program hosted their end of season banquet and announced District awards for several Varsity players. This season proved to be a successful one under first year head Coach Stephanie Barthels with the Lady Texans advancing into the Regional playoffs. Of the three top all district awards, Wimberley took two. Senior libero Maddie Maxwell earned District Defensive MVP and Freshman Paige Crawford took home Newcomer of the Year. Additionally, First team awards went to senior Outside Hitter and team captain Reilly Horn. Junior Middle Blocker Olivia Linton and Junior Right Side Rayna Pack were also included on first team.

Second team honors went to Sophomores Brina Jones at right side and Jordan McFarland at setter. The team also garnered 4 honorable mentions with Senior setter Morgan Romano, Junior middle blocker Payton Knight, Sophomore outside hitter Holly Harwood and Sophomore defensive specialist Rhyan Masur.

Although these athletes chalked up the awards on the floor, they also did well in the classroom with 11 of 14 players earning Academic All District awards; seniors Morgan Romano, Maddie Maxwell, Sierra Fox, Sydney Pate, Macey Fields. Juniors Olivia Linton and Payton Knight; Sophomores Holly Harwood, Jordan McFarland and Rhyan Masur. With Freshman Paige Crawford rounding out the group. Congratulations Lady Texans on a very successful season!
