Wimberley opened up district play sweeping district rival Canyon Lake in a two-game district series, winning Game 1 12-6 then winning Game 2 3-2.

The Texans improve to 10-6-1 for the season and 2-0 in district play.

In Game 1 on Tuesday, Wimberley jumped on Canyon Lake early in the bottom of the first inning, loading up the bases on a Sage Hall single, Alex Abrusley walk and a Maverick Jacobs hit by pitch.

Jacob Abrusley scored the first run for the Texans on a bases loaded up followed by another bases walk by Carter Meeks.

Jake Dewell then broke the game open, hitting a grand slam in left field as Wimberley took a commanding 6-0 lead.

Canyon Lake answered in the top of the second, scoring on a RBI double.

The Texans responded in the same inning as Alex Abrusley hit an RBI single followed by an RBI single by Maverick Jacobs, pushing Wimberley’s lead to 8-1.

Meeks scored another run for the Texans with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, extending the lead to 9-1

Hawks came roaring back in the bottom of the fifth, scoring runs on two bases loaded walks and a two-run RBI single as Canyon Lake trailed 9-5.

Sage Hall added to the Texans lead in the bottom of the fifth, hitting an RBI groundout before a Canyon Lake error allowed two more runs to score.

Canyon Lake responded with an RBI double in the top of the sixth but were unable to complete the comeback as the Texans won 12-6.

In the second game on Friday, the Texans took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first following a two-run RBI single by Jacobs.

Wimberley later added another run in the top of the fifth when Gentry McGinnis scored from third on a passed ball to go up 3-0.

The Hawks made their comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring on two bases loaded walks. Canyon Lake threatened to tie the game with the bases loaded and one one but the Texans escaped the inning after Jacob Abursley picked off the base runner at third before getting the strikeout for the final out of the inning.

Canyon Lake looked to make one last comeback in the bottom of the seventh but Jacob Abursely sat the Hawks down in order to preserve the 3-2 win.

The Texans will face the Bandera Bulldogs this week for the start of their two-game district series.

The Bulldogs come into the week with a 4-13-3 overall record following being swept by Fredericksburg in a two-game series.

First pitch Game 1 is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wimberley while first pitch for Game 2 is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Bandera.

The Texans bounced back from a tough loss to the rival Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies to end the week with a district win over the New Braunfels Long Creek Dragons, winning 8-4.

Wimberley improves to 18-5-2 for the season and 3-1 in district play.

In their game against Fredericksburg, the Texans scored in the top of the first on a Regan Kenley RBI single to lead 1-0.

But the Billies responded by scoring 11 unanswered runs en route to handing Wimberley their first district loss of the season at 11-1.

Wimberley returned home Friday looking to regroup as the Texans hosted Long Creek.

The Texans scored first on a RBI ground by Bailey Wright before Ella Patek scored on a Long Creek to put Wimberley up 2-0.

In the second inning, Wimberley scored on a double steal before Wright hit a two-run RBI single, extending the Texans lead to 5-0.

Long Creek answered in the top of the fourth, scoring on a RBI single and cutting their deficit down to 5-1.

The Texans answered with a another RBI single by Wright before Patek hit a two-run inside-the-park home run, putting the Texans up 8-1.

The Dragons scored three runs in the top of the seventh but were unable to complete the comeback as the Texans went on to win 8-4.

Wimberley is on the road Tuesday against Davenport before returning home Thursday against Canyon Lake to start the second round of district play. Both games are schedule for 7 p.m.

The Texans improve to 22-2-1 for the season.

In their Area playoff game, the Texans faced off against the Pleasanton Eagles.

Wimberley started the game off hot, scoring four goals in the first half to take a commanding 4-0 lead over the Eagles. Pleasanton was unable to find another goal in the second half as the Lady Texans tacked on another four goals to secure the 8-0 win.

Moving on to the regional semifinals, the Lady Texans looked to punched their ticket into the regional finals against the Ingleside Mustangs.

Wimberley blitz Ingleside from the start, scoring a whopping seven goals in the first half as the Mustangs were unable to solve the Lady Texan defense. Wimberley tacked on another goal in the second half to seal the win at 8-0.

Advancing to the regional final, the Lady Texans aim for a return to the state tournament as Wimberley faces the Corpus Christi London Pirates.

The Pirates enter the regional final with a 16-2 overall record, having won District 29 Class 4A with a perfect record.

London opened up the playoffs with a dominating 12-0 win over Zapata before defeating IDEA Robindale.

In the regional semfinals, London defeated Wimberley arch-rival Canyon Lake 3-2 to advance forward into the regional final.

It will be a battle between the best offense and best defense in Region IV Class 4A with London averaging 8.1 goals per game while the Wimberley defense has held opponents to an average of just 0.56 goals per game.

On the flip side, Wimberley has averaged 4.72 goals per game while London has held opponents to just 0.55 goals per game.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasanton.

The Texans split their final two non-district games of the season, falling to Lago Vista but beating Thorndale on Friday.

Wimberley enters this week with an 8-6-1 overall record.

In their Wednesday game against Lago Vista, the Texans fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning on an RBI single.

Lago Vista added on to their lead with another RBI single in the top of the fifth before an RBI groundout made it a 3-0 game.

The Vikings tacked on another two runs following a two-run RBI double, making it a 5-0 game.

The Texans made their comeback in the bottom of the fifth when Sage Hall scored on a balk following an RBI single by Maverick Jacobs, making it a 5-2 game.

The Vikings tacked on another run on an RBI double as the Texans enter their final at-bat down 6-2.

Wimberley loaded up the bases on three consecutive walks before Carter Meeks forced a bases loaded walk to cut the deficit down to 6-3.

Gentry McGinnis made it a one-run after connecting with a two-run RBI single as the Texans made it a 6-5 game. Wimberley looked to complete the comeback but a flyout ended the game for the Texans.

On Friday, Wimberley looked to bounce back against Thorndale.

Jacob Abrusley scored first the Texans, hitting an RBI single to take the lead 1-0 in the top of the first.

Wimberley added on to their lead in the top of the fourth as Meeks scored on a Thorndale error.

The Bulldogs made their comeback in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs to take a 5-2 lead.

However, the Texans responded in the top of the fifth.

Following back to back walks, Abrusley hit an RBI single, cutting the deficit down to 5-3.

After Sage Hall scored another run on a Thorndale error before Dane Mignerey hit a two-run RBI triple to give the Texans the lead at 6-5. Jake Dewell scored Mignerey on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.

Cannon Couch hit a two-run RBI double before an RBI single by Abrusley made it a 10-5 game.

The Texans tacked on another two runs on an error and a Sage Hall sacrifice fly before going on to win 12-5.

Wimberley starts district play this week as the Texans battled arch-rival Canyon Lake for a two-game series.

The Hawks enter the series with a 13-3-1 overall record, coming off wins over Antonian Prep and San Antonio Taft.

First pitch for Tuesday is set for 7:30 p.m. in Wimberley while first pitch for Friday is set for 7 p.m. in Canyon Lake.

The Texans season came to an end last Friday in Dripping Springs as Wimberley fell to the Austin Achieve Polar Bears 2-0 in the Bi-District round of the playoffs.

Wimberley finishes their season with a 6-12-4 along with a 5-5-2 district record.

The Polar Bears scored in the first half against the Texans before adding their final goal in the second to seal the win. Despite Wimberley’s best efforts on offense, the Texans were unable to break through the Polar Bear defense.

It was a great season for the Texans who found their way back in the playoffs this year after missing the postseason last year.

The deciding game for Wimberley came on senior night when the Texans defeated the New Braunfels Long Creek Dragons 5-0. After tying Bandera for the final playoff spot, the tiebreaker came down to goal differential. The Bulldogs finished at 0 while the Texans finished at +4.

The Texans also handed district champion Marble Falls their only loss in district play.

Wimberley will look to build off their successful season going into 2027.

Wimberley improves their record 20-2-1 while Lago Vista finishes the season at 17-4.

The Lady Texans scored two goals in the first half to take a commanding lead before added three more in the second half to cruise onto the win.

The Wimberley defense dominated the Vikings as Lago Vista failed to find the back of the net as the Lady Texans pitched the shutout.

The Lady Texans advance to the Area Round of the playoffs where Wimberley will face the Pleasanton Eagles. The Eagles are the district champions of 4A District 28 and enter the week with a 20-4-2 overall record. Pleasanton defeated Luling 2-1 in the Bi-District round of the playoffs.

Kickoff for Wimberley-Pleasanton is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Davenport High School.

Wimberley improves to 17-4-2 overall and 2-0 in district play. Bandera falls to 4-17 overall and 0-2 in district play.

Kenley struck again, hitting an RBI double before an RBI double by Grace Strobel made it an 8-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Gahan stole home after hitting a triple before Patek hit an RBI double, extending the lead to 10-0.

Bandera finally got on the board in the top of the fourth on a leadoff home run.

Wimberley responded in the next at-bat as Morgan Smith hit an RBI single followed up by an RBI single by Davis.

A Bandera error scored two more runs for the Texans before Patek hit an RBI double to enforce the run-rule as Wimberley won 16-1.

Strobel earned the win in the circle, allowing just two hits, one earned run and striking out four batters.

Wimberley continues district play this week as the Texans go on the road Tuesday against Fredericksburg before hosting New Braunfels Long Creek on Friday. Both games are set to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Texans are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2024 as Wimberley shut out the New Braunfels Long Creek Dragons 5-0, clinching a berth into the postseason on senior night.

Wimberley finishes the regular season with a 6-11-4 overall record and a 5-5-2 district record.

The game was highlighted by junior Hunter Hodgson completing the hat-trick with three goals. Senior Billy Brown and junior Raul Canil Montenegro also added goals to complete the win.

The Texans will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed representing District 26 in the Class 4A Division II playoffs. Fredericksburg nabbed the No. 1 seed in the Division II playoffs while Marble Falls [No. 1] and Davenport [No. 2] will go into the Division I playoffs.

Wimberley will look to capture the gold ball Friday as the Texans battle the Austin Achieve Polar Bears. Achieve finished the season with a 11-8-2 overall record and a 8-2-2 district record to capture second place in District 25.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m Friday at Dripping Springs.

Wimberley finishes the season with a 19-2-1 overall record and a 11-1 district record. The outright district title was sealed with Canyon Lake lost to Davenport 2-1 to drop the Hawks district record to 10-2.

The Lady Texans were locked in a tough defensive with the Dragons in the first half as Wimberley managed only one goal.

But in the second half, the Lady Texans came out firing on all cylinders, scoring four goals to seal the win at 5-0.

With the win and the Canyon Lake loss, Wimberley clinches the No. 1 seed for District 26 in the 4A Division II playoffs. The Hawks will enter the 4A Division II playoffs as the No. 2 seed, adding the possibility both teams could meet for a third time in a regional final.

Davenport enters the 4A Division I playoffs as the No. 1 seed while Long Creek goes in at the No. 2 seed.

The Lady Texans begin their hunt in a return trip back to the state championships in the Bi-District round against Lago Vista. The Vikings finished district play third overall with a 12-3 district record and a 17-3 overall record.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Bastrop Memorial Stadium.

The now No. 8 ranked Texans improve their overall record to 16-4-2 and 1-0 in district play.

Wimberley scored first in the top of the third inning when Bailey Wright hit an RBI double. Wright was brought home on an RBI single by Reagan Kenley.

Ella Patek then stole home for a run before another Wimberley run extend the lead at 4-0.

In the top of the fourth, Wright hit an RBI single to push the Canyon Lake deficit to 5-0.

Wimberley struck again in the top of the fifth when Peyton Wharton hit an RBI double followed up with an RBI double by Ansley Davis, extending the lead to 7-0.

Canyon Lake came back in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring on an RBI single and a two-run RBI double, making it a 7-3 game.

Needing insurance runs in the top of the seventh, the Texans’ bats came alive.

Wright forced a bases loaded walk before Patek hit a two-run RBI single, making it a 10-3 game.

Kenley followed by Patek with a two-run RBI double before Wharton hit an RBI double of her own as the lead was extended to 13-3.

Wharton later scored on a passed ball from third base before an RBI single by Morgan Smith scored the final run of the game at 15-3, sealing the Texans district win.

Charlotte Woodard earned the win in the circle, allowing just three hits, two earned runs and striking out five batters.

Earlier in the week, the Texans were home against the Pleasanton Eagles where Wimberley won 11-2.

The win was significant as Head Coach Robert Klick won his 400th game as head coach.

The Texans will be back in district play this week, playing only one game against the Bandera Bulldogs.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Friday in Wimberley.

Despite graduating some key pieces from last year’s team, the Texans returned several key starters and are looking to reload rather than rebuild.

Wimberley opened the 2026 season at the Salado Tournament in a non-district schedule chalked filled with tough opponents that will push the Texans in order to prepare the team for district play.

At the Salado Tournament, the Texans finished play with a 1-3 record with their lone win coming against Thrall [14-5] along with losses to Salado [5-1], Troy [12-1] and Round Rock JV [5-4].

Wimberley’s home opener came against the Burnet Bulldogs with the Texans winning their first home game 3-0.

The Texans were back in tournament play the following weekend competing at the Raising Canes Classic. Wimberley finished the weekend 2-2-1 record with wins against Socorro [9-8], San Antonio Madison [11-0], losses to San Antonio Churchill [13-0], Boerne Champion [7-6] and a tie to Eagle Pass [3-3].

Wimberley then competed at the Burnet Tournament, sweeping the tournament with wins over Lake Travis JV [5-4], Elgin [12-0] and Glen Rose [4-0].

The Texans round out non-district play this week with a home game against Lago Vista then a road game against Thorndale.

First pitch for Wimberley-Lago Vista is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday in Wimberley. First pitch for Wimberley-Thorndale is set for 4:30 p.m. in Thorndale.

Wimberley improves to 14-4-2 overall and are ranked in the Top 25 at No. 14.

The Texans started the week on the road against Cornerstone Christian.

Wimberley struck first in the top of the second with Morgan Smith connected with a two-run RBI single to give the Texans the lead. Later in the third inning, Wimberley took advantage of a Cornerstone error leading to another run.

The Texans later tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win.

Charlotte Woodard earned the win for the Texans, pitching a complete game while allowing four hits, no earned runs, one walk and striking out eight batters.

Wimberley wrapped up the week at home to face Blanco.

Ella Patek scored first for the Texans, hitting a solo home run to put Wimberley up first.

Later in the second inning, Wimberley scored on a Jewel Lock RBI triple. Up next, Smith hit an RBI single to score Lock before a two-run RBI double by Emorie Gahan scored two more runs. Bailey Wright then hit an RBI groundout as Wimberley entered the third inning up 7-0.

Ansley Davis scored for the Texans in the bottom of the third, hitting an inside the park home run to make it a 8-0 game.

The Texans scored once again the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch before an RBI single by Gahan in the fifth ended the game to seal a 10-0 win.

Gahan finished the game with three hits and three RBIs followed by Davis going 2-2 from the plate with two RBIs.

Woodard earned her second win of the week allowing just two hits, no runs, two walks and striking out four batters.

Wimberley is back home Tuesday against Pleasanton before starting district play at Canyon Lake Friday.

The Texan girls soccer team played their final home game this week, ending with a massive 8-0 win over the Bandera Bulldogs.

Wimberley improves their overall record 18-2-1 and their district record to 10-1.

The Lady Texans started the week against the archrival Canyon Lake Hawks.

The Hawks played spoiler to the Lady Texans, outscoring Wimberley 3-0 in the second half to come away with a 3-1 win.

Coming back home on Friday, Wimberley looked to finish their home stand on a high note for the senior players as the Lady Texans took on the Bandera Bulldogs.

Wimberley came out firing on all cylinders, scoring a whopping seven goals in the first half. The Lady Texans added their eighth goal in the second half to seal the win at 8-0, giving the seniors one last home win at Texan Stadium.

Splitting their district games this week, Wimberley is half a game up on Canyon Lake with the Lady Texans holding a 10-1 overall record and a Hawks holding a 9-1 overall record.

Wimberley closes out the regular season on the road against New Braunfels Long Creek.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Long Creek High School.

Wimberley High School tennis brought home multiple medals from the Pflugerville Connally Cougar Classic, highlighted by two first-place finishes in doubles competition.

The Texans swept the top spot in both boys and girls doubles at the tournament. Kate Carson and Kennedy Carson captured the championship in girls doubles, while Marcus Gonzales and Branton Kirchner claimed first place in boys doubles.

Wimberley also had strong performances in mixed doubles. Kevin Alvarado and Emma Pierce finished second in the mixed doubles bracket, while Logan Carpenter and Kyndan Gilley earned third place in the same division.

In singles competition, Gus Moore placed third in boys singles to add another medal to the Texans’ overall tournament haul.

The Texans finish the season with a 36-3 overall record, the best in program history.

Wimberley started the week in the regional semifinals against the Brownsville Jubilee Titans.

It was a blowout win for the Texans who defeated the Titans 106-62.

Five Texan players finished the game scoring over 15 points with the duo senior Holden Crawford and junior Nathan Baker leading the way with 17 points. Senior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza was second in scoring with 16 points followed by juniors Harley Peacock and Camden Hopkins with 15 points each.

Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in rebounds with 15 along with 13 assists with complete the triple-double, a first in the Texans postseason history. Junior Reece Wortham also had 13 assists for the Texans.

Wimberley advanced to the regional finals for just the second time in program history where they Texans faced the No. 2 ranked team in the state the La Marque Panthers.

The Panthers and the Texans previously met in the regional finals last year where La Marque won.

This year, La Marque once again came out victorious as the Texans lost 74-57.

Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with 29 points followed by Wortham with 12 points.

The Wimberley senior class will go down as the decorated class in program history, winning a record six playoff games in a span of two years, reaching the regional finals for the first time in history along with the Texans first outright district championship in nearly a decade.

Wimberley finishes the week with a 5-11-4 overall record and a 4-5-2 district record.

The Texans started the week on the road against archrival Canyon Lake where the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Wimberley ended the week back on the road against the Bandera Bulldogs with both teams battling for the final playoff spot.

Bandera took the 2-1 lead in the first half before the Texans tied the game in second half on a Billy Brown goal, his second of the game.

But the Bulldogs answered back by scoring the game winning goal and coming away with a 3-2 win.

Wimberley returns home Friday against New Braunfels Long Creek. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Texan Stadium.

The Texan basketball team is back in the regional semifinals for the second consecutive season, winning both their Bi-District and Area playoff games.

Wimberley improves their overall to 35-2.

The Texans opened the playoffs against the Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch Wranglers.

Wimberley jumped out to a 29-12 lead over the Wranglers before rolling to an 88-51 win.

Junior Reece Wortham led the team in scoring with 27 points followed by senior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza with 23 points. Junior Harley Peacock was third in scoring with 13 points followed by senior Holden Crawford 12 points.

Junior Nathan Baker led the team in rebounds with six followed by Peacock and Crawford with five. Wortham and Peacock led the team in assists with five.

Later in the week, the Texans faced the Pleasanton Eagles in the Area round.

It was another dominating win for Wimberley as the Texans defeated the Eagles 82-56.

Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with a game-high 33 points. Wortham was second with 18 points followed by Baker with 11 and Crawford with 10.

Baker led the team in rebounds with 11 followed by senior Micah Birdsong with nine. Wortham led the team in assists with eight.

Wimberley is now back in the regional tournament for the second year in a row as the Texans set their sights on their first-ever regional championship.

The Texans will face the Brownsville Jubilee Titans in the regional semifinals, where the winner will face the winner of La Marque-Manor New Tech.

Jubilee enters the game with a 24-5 overall record, having captured the District 32 title.

The Titans won their Bi-District playoff game against the Kingsville King Brahmas 83-73. Jubilee then beat the Wharton Tigers in the Area round, winning 50-49.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday night at Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial High School.

It was a rough week for the Texan soccer team, which fell in their final home game of the season, losing to the Davenport Wolves 3-0 before tying Fredericksburg 2-2.

The Texans improve their overall record to 5-10-3 and their district record to 4-4-1.

Against the Wolves, Wimberley was unable to get past Davenport’s defense as the Texans fell in the shutout.

Going on the road, the Texans looked to regroup against the rival Battlin’ Billies.

Wimberley came away with a point as the Texans tied the Billies 2-2 behind goals from Bo Holeman and Hunter Hodgson.

The tie proved to be critical as the Texans and the Bandera Bulldogs are tied for fourth place with just two games remaining in the regular season.

Wimberley closes out the season on the road with a Tuesday night showdown against arch-rival Canyon Lake, then a Friday night district game against Bandera, which could decide the final playoff spot.

Both games are scheduled to be played at 7 p.m.

Wimberley improves their overall record to 17-1-1 and their district record to 9-0.

The Lady Texans started the week on the road to take on district title contender Davenport.

Wimberley scored two goals in the first half to take the early lead and didn’t look back. The Lady Texans rolled to a 3-1 win.

The Lady Texans returned home Friday for the start of a three-game homestand as Wimberley took on the rival Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies.

Wimberley once again dominated, scoring three first half goals before adding two more in the second half to secure a 5-0 win.

The Lady Texans will look to wrap up the district championship this week as Wimberley hosts both Canyon Lake and Bandera, the former being for the district championship, with the latter being on senior night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for both games.

Finishing the week with five wins, Wimberley improves their record to 7-2-2 for the year.

The week started off strong enough as the Texans defeated the La Vernia Bears 21-1 with Grace Strobel going 3-3 from the plate with five RBIs.

Emorie Gahan was second on the team with four RBIs, going 2-3 from the plate.

Wimberley then started tournament play on Thursday but had a rough start, losing to Henderson 9-3 then PSJA North 10-9.

But the Texans bounced back in the second day with an 8-1 win over the Zapata Hawks, the team that eliminated Wimberley from the playoffs last season. Wimberley used a strong fourth inning which saw the Texans score eight runs to secure the win. Strobel earned the win in the circle, allowing six hits and one earned run.

In the next game, the Texans took on Somerset. Despite the Bulldogs scoring two runs in the top of the first, Wimberley answered back with an eight-run at-bat en-route to an 11-6 win.

Wimberley closed out their weekend with games against Jim Ned and Killeen Chaparral, both ending with Texan wins.

The Texans will play Cornerstone Christian at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the road before coming home Friday to play Blanco at 7 p.m.

The Lady Texans continued their domination in district with a pair of blowout wins against the New Braunfels Long Creek Dragons and the Marble Falls Mustangs.

Wimberley improves to 15-1-1 overall and 7-0 in district play.

Playing in their first home game in three games, the Lady Texans hosted the Dragons.

Wimberley scored five first half goals before adding another four in the second half to win 9-1 over Long Creek.

The Lady Texans were back on the road Friday to start the second round of district play against Marble Falls.

Once again, Wimberley dominated with a 3-0 win over the Mustangs, scoring three goals in the first half.

Wimberley is back on the road this week going up against Davenport on Tuesday before coming back home against Fredericksburg on Friday.

The Texans won their first home of the season defeating the Bastrop Bears 18-8.

Following their home tournament at Texan Classic, the Texans improve to 7-2-2 for the season.

The highlight of the Texans win over Bastrop was shortstop Ella Patek hitting two home runs for Wimberley, going 2-3 from the plate with six RBIs.

Wimberley scored five runs in the first inning with the help of Patek’s two-run homer, Emorie Gahan’s leadoff home run, a sacrifice fly by Ansley Davis and an RBI triple from Palin Wharton.

Bastrop pulled within one in the fourth inning before the Texans answered back with another five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Gahan connected with a two-run RBI single before Patek batted in a run on a sac fly. Reagan Kenley then hit a two-run RBI triple before scoring again on a groundout to lead 10-4.

The Bears made another comeback attempt, scoring four more runs in the top of the fifth inning before the Texans answered once more.

Bailey Wright connected with an RBI single to score a run before Patek crushed a three-run home run, extending the lead to 14-8.

In the bottom of the sixth, Wharton scored on a fielder’s choice before Morgan Smith hit a two-run RBI triple. Gahan scored the game winning run on a RBI single, making the final score 18-8.

Wimberley later competed at the Texan Classic where the Texans collected wins over Aubrey, Lorena and Hallettsville before tying both Franklin and Gonzales.

The Texans are back on the road against La Vernia before going back into tournament play at Ingleside.

Wimberley is now 5-9-2 for the season and their district record to 4-3 good enough for fourth place in district.

At the end of the first half, the Texans found themselves down 2-0 to the Dragons.

In danger of dropping a crucial district game, the Texans started their comeback.

Scoring five goals, two of which came from Hunter Hodgson, Wimberley rallied and defeated Long Creek 5-2. Raul Canil Montenegro and Kaden Geron also added goals for the Texans.

Wimberley closed out their week back on the road against the Marble Falls Mustangs, ending with a 1-0 defeat for the Texans.

Wimberley sits in a prime position to bring home a postseason berth with just five games remaining in the district schedule.

The Texans start the week at home against Davenport before going back on the road against Fredericksburg.

The Texans finish the regular season with a 34-2 overall record and a perfect district record at 10-0.

Wimberley trailed at the end of the first quarter down 13-10 but a rally by the Texans led to the score being tied at 26-26 at halftime.

Wimberley’s defense held Davenport to just seven points in the third quarter as the Texans entered halftime up 37-33.

It proved to be the difference maker as Wimberley outscored Davenport 19-17 in the fourth quarter to seal the win at 56-50.

Senior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with 21 points followed by senior Micah Birdsong with seven.

Junior Nathan Baker led the team in rebounds with 11.

The Texans enter the playoffs as the No. 12 ranked team in the state, scoring an average of 72.1 points per game while holding opponents to just 43.8 points per game.

Wimberley will be one of the favorites in Region IV of the 4A Division II playoffs along with No. 2 ranked LaMarque who enters with a 36-1 overall record.

Wimberley will take on Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch in the first round of the playoffs Monday night at Hays High School.

Wimberley ends the season with a 14-20 overall record and a 5-5 district record.

It was a rough start for the Lady Texans season who lost their first eight games of the season. But Wimberley was able to rally and regroup before district play.

In district play, the Lady Texans placed third in district, defeating both Bandera and Canyon Lake to secure their playoff spot along with a win over New Braunfels Long Creek.

With the Lady Texans returning many players going into the next season, Wimberley hopes to build off the 2025-2026 season into the future and secure another postseason bid.

The Texans have clinched a share of the district championship beating both Fredericksburg and New Braunfels Long Creek while setting their sights on the outright district championship when Wimberley hosts Davenport Tuesday night.

Wimberley improves to 32-2 overall and 9-0 in district play.

Wimberley started the week at home against the rival Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies.

The Texans rolled past their Hill Country rivals, defeating the Battlin’ Billies 99-47.

The win was highlighted by senior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza setting a new program record for most points in a single game with 48. The old record was 46, set in 2022-23 season.

Gumbert-Mendoza also set a new program record for most career rebounds with 661. The old record was 659. Gumbert-Mendoza also led the team with nine assists and seven steals.

Senior Holden Crawford was second in scoring with 13 points while Reece Wortham was third with 10. Junior Nathan Baker was first in rebounds with 11.

The Texans finished the week on the road against the Long Creek Dragons, winning 75-43.

Wimberley is back home for the final game of the regular season as the Texans host the Davenport Wolves.

The Wolves enter the game with a 23-9 overall record and a 8-1 district record. The lone district loss came against Wimberley as the Texans defeated the Wolves 62-37.

A Texans win would mean Wimberley clinches the district title outright while a loss means the Wolves will share the title.

Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Texan Gym.

Texan swimmers competed against the best 4A swimmers in Texas at the UIL State Swim Championships at Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio last week.

The boys 200-yard medley relay finished in 6th place overall after qualifying for the Championship “A” final. Their time of 1:47.11 was more than two seconds faster than their showing at the state championships last year. Lead off swimmer and sophomore Jackson Shinn swam a personal best backstroke split, followed by junior Michael Donovan, who also swam a personal best in the breaststroke split. Sophomore Jeremiah (JJ) Bales and senior Rayder Pack continued to pour on the speed in the butterfly and freestyle legs, respectively.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the same foursome swam to a 13th place finish in 3:42.32, eclipsing their qualifying time from the regional championship meet by five seconds.

The Lady Texan 200-yard medley relay finished in 13th place with a time of 2:09.27. Senior Brooklyn Bursiel opened with the backstroke, followed by junior Gracie Colyer on breaststroke, senior Zorah Schwalb-Stang swimming butterfly, and Charlotte Woodward’s freestyle.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Lady Texans finished in 11th place, with a school record-breaking performance of 4:03.50.

Rounding out the Texans’ impressive 4A State showing were two individual swimmers, Bales and Donovan.

Bales narrowly missed “A” finals in the 100-yd butterfly and won the consolation heat with a time of 57.02, for 9th place overall. His 23.45 in the 50-yard freestyle was good enough for 11th place.

Donovan placed 15th in the 100-yd breaststroke with a time of 1:07.15.

The most improved Texan was senior rookie Rayder Pack, who was recruited to join the team after the season began. In his breakout season, he skyrocketed to State in two relays.

The Texans will say goodbye to four state-qualifying seniors this year but plan to rebuild for a return to the 4A State Championships in 2027.
