Supporting Rasco, Grummert and LeBrun for Woodcreek

Social media currently has a lengthy discussion around Permits being required for common “renovation/repair” on existing structures. Candidate Jeff Rasco and others in Woodcreek have/are suffering through the property repair permitting process. Jeff’s previous City Council experience will prove beneficial to the future of Woodcreek and critical at this point in time and he has our vote.

Since March of this year we have been going through the process of obtaining variances and potential permits to perform required safety/structural repairs to our 30 year old home. It has been a frustrating process. Initial documentation required a $75.00 filing fee. City Hall then required additional forms to be completed with another filing fee of $500.00

After 4 months, on August 19th the City Council approved a variance. Several weeks later we received another document which required an additional $264.00 for the formal permit to proceed. This document requires multiple onsite inspections by City approved engineer. Our contractor is currently evaluating the impact of the most recent documentation and inspection requirements by the City. Summary: 1. Project costs to date of $839.00 to City. 2. Lumber costs doubled. 3. In process of obtaining a revised contractor estimate. 4. Safety exit from second floor and structural integrity of home still in jeopardy. 5. Something seems out of kilter with the process of “restoring/maintaining/repairing” existing homeowner structures in the City of Woodcreek.

For the reasons below and for their assistance in our process, the following candidates for Woodcreek City Council also have our votes:

Current Council member Aurora LeBrun has been an immeasurable help and strong citizen advocate with City Hall in assuring our permitting needs were attended to.

Candidate Chrys Grummert has been an outspoken and necessary voice for complete transparency in the functioning of City Government and also has our vote.

I am writing a letter of recommendation for Jeff Rasco for Woodcreek City Council. As a homeowner for 6 years in Woodcreek I would like to see changes made for what Jeff calls our “bright future”. He has been on the council before and works very well with others to create the best for our little city. Some of Jeff’s many talents on a previous council included designing and creating the first web site for the city and installation of a sophisticated computer network to better communicate with our citizens. He has a long history of success (20 years) in business in the Woodcreek ETJ! If elected we thankfully will have someone to stop the annual tax hikes for a city who already has ample reserves invested for the future. He has sensible plans for economic growth and it doesn’t include big box stores, we love our cozy, quiet, entrepreneurial neighborhood. He will address how we will strategically maintain our roads (currently very subpar) and include SAFE areas for pedestrians, as well as reduce the amount of traffic overall. As a nature lover he will fund and complete park improvements that have been set aside in the current city council. Lastly, but very important to me and to many citizens, are the terribly restrictive measures on improving/repairing our properties, excessive and totally inconsistent. The fees, the mandates to make any changes are out of control, I keep asking myself whose property is it, mine, the golf course’s or the city’s? Property owner’s rights are scarce here in Woodcreek, Jeff will see to the change! VOTE for a new council by adding Chrys Grummert and reelecting Aurora LeBrun along with Jeff, what a team!

I have lived in Woodcreek for 17 years and want to express my support for Jeff Rasco who is running for Woodcreek City Council. Jeff has previous experience on the Council, has run his own business and has the very best interests of the citizens of Woodcreek in keeping it a safe and beautiful place in which to live. I know him to be very honest, intelligent, compassionate and informed. He currently serves on the Woodcreek Planning and Zoning Commission. Jeff is a person who definitely knows how to work well with others to move towards the common goal of improving all aspects of life in Woodcreek. I very much appreciate his willingness to step forward at this time to run for City Council and will be happy to vote for him. I further believe that he will be able to work well with other City Council members, taking time to look at all points of view. I would like to also lend my support to Aurora LeBrun and Chrys Grummert as other candidates for Woodcreek City Council. Both are open to having the kind of discussions that are needed, in my opinion, to insure that all of the citizens of Woodcreek are represented fairly. Thank you!

I’ve lived in Woodcreek since 1992 and I have seen council meetings where the mayor leads meetings and keeps the meeting on track. I have seen meetings where it’s the mayor’s show (in both Woodcreek and Wimberley). I have never seen good government when councilmem-bers approve the mayor’s agenda items with little or no discussion.

Currently, councilmembers are not allowed to contribute agenda items and residents are told they can only address agenda items. Many residents have voiced concerns about traffic and speeding and at least one council member has repeatedly requested the issue be addressed. All requests were ignored. The city has over $1,000,000 in reserve and yet road repair and maintenance are lacking.

When city hall was built there was one employee. Currently, there are three employees and the city’s hours (prior to the pandemic) are 10 to 4. Employees should work staggered hours and have City Hall open from 8 to 5 to meet the public’s needs . Council meetings should be after normal business hours. Currently office and meeting hours are convenient to the council and staff, not the public.

There is talk of building a new city hall or a large expansion. The city is not rapidly growing or taken on new responsibilities. There are some who think the Woodcreek is taking itself too seriously.

We need a strong council who will represent the residents’ needs. We need councilmembers to help manage the city’s fiscal reserves and direct the mayor to adequately maintain the roads.

I have known Jeff Rasco since 2007 and I know him to be hard-working, level headed and fair. Jeff addresses issues and mediates solutions. I will vote for Jeff Rasco, Chyrs Grummert and Aurora LeBrun in November. With current councilmember Brent Pulley, Woodcreek citizens will again be represented.

I am writing to support these folks for Woodcreek City Council:

JEFF RASCO CHRYS GRUMMERT AURORA LEBRUN I do not always agree with them, and they do not always agree with me.

BUT, I believe that they will work hard on the critical matters facing our community:

1) dealing with the increased and sometimes dangerous traffic our neighborhood now faces; 2) preserving the Hill Country and our way of life; 3) preventing reckless over-development; 4) taking care of Cypress Creek and the Blanco; and 5) working toward a fair deal - at last - with Aqua Texas.

Most importantly, I also believe that they will work to create a more OPEN, accountable, and transparent City government that will listen to ALL of our citizens, and NOT to just a favored few.

TIME TO STAND UP - GO VOTE.
