LETTERS OF SUPPORT

In support of Christine Byrne

I met Christine Byrne in 2005 when we were both serving on the City of Wimberley’s Blue Hole Park Master Plan Committee. I was serving on the City Council at that time and saw her dedication to her community further demonstrated by her service on the City’s Parks Board. At the same time she and her husband Jim were busy raising a family of three whom we all saw at Council meetings when the boys were making Eagle Scout presentations of projects designed especially for Blue Hole Park. Their daughter always proudly attended.

It was obvious to me that Christine was an ideal candidate for City Council. Her deep family roots in Wimberley and her work as a volunteer through the Master Naturalists group and the Parks Board was impressive. Her background as a Registered Nurse was reflected in her attention to people and her sound understanding of the facts in her service to the community. She demonstrated empathy for people’s expressed desire for a healthy environment and showed a dedication to strong families and a belief in the benefits of living in a town that gave its residents the opportunity to enjoy and help preserve their way of life through public service.

It took Christine several years to decide that the time was right for her to run for office. She lost that first race by a small margin and many members of the community soon realized that they had missed an opportunity to elect a really well qualified person.

Our city government is currently suffering from lack of leadership; our “body politic” is not well. We need a skilled community leader to restore Wimberly to health. Christine Byrne is that person. Elect her to the City Council.
