LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

KWVH needs help getting football

The WISD board is soon going to make what I think is an important decision, much like all of their decisions or actions it directly effects us locally. I would like to encourage all of you as readers to contact via email or you’re favorite social media platform and encourage the WISD board to vote in favor of granting our own local Wimberley Valley Radio station KWVH the broadcasting rights for the 2020 and out years, both Away and Home Football games.

KWVH has proven its dedication to our community countless ways and times. Presently it broadcast 60 hours of live broadcasting every week.

While it might seem to some this broadcasting privilege is a money maker and wonder why KWVH is not paying for this right, please remember KWVH is OUR OWN local non profit station, KWVH is in competition with a station from Dripping Springs for these game broadcasting rights. KWVH is truly OUR local station, most of you know the actual studio is located right on the square on Old Kyle Road, with the actual studio enclosed and facing onto OKR.

I follow the station and its programming near constantly, KWVH’s coverage of all WISD activities including academics as well sports is unequaled and rivaled only by national or the very powerful local conglomerate stations like WOAI KLBJ. If you follow the local programs that focus on the student activities and interviews with the students, you can readily discern week by week the confidence and enthusiasm these students have and build upon during these interviews and the keen sense of responsibility and accountability they begin to realize they have toward themselves, and various team activities they represent, and that they are a part of the Wimberley Community. Broadcasting these games is just a natural component of the whole activity.

Its a complex mix of why KWVH has not been previously been the same station that has done all the background and support network, but not broadcast the actual game/s. This next week the board has an opportunity to bring it all into one completely local and central resource, where it is a complete and welcomed fit. KWVH is the natural choice and fit for this. Please write or contact any or all of the WISD board members and encourage them to vote in support of KWVH proposal to round out these activities.
