Tired of trash on Cypress Creek Lane

While walking along Cypress Creek Lane the other day, I spotted first one and then another beer can – the majority colored bright blue followed by silver. Because I happened to have a sack with me, I picked them up, but quickly became overwhelmed as they overflowed my bag. Then I became angry and began to ask questions, like “Who is doing this? Why mostly cans? Why mostly beer cans? Why is it mostly Budweiser Light in bright blue and Coors Light in silver cans?

If you have been one of those people tossng out cans, bottles or whatever, please be considerate of your neighbors and stop! Surely you can refrain from drinking and tossing during the 3 minutes that it takes to drive the entire length of Cypress Creek Lane. Please value our beautiful valley and . . . DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS!

City still has long ways to go on sewer

On November 9, 2018, Mayor Susan Jaggers emailed Ashley Piel (of TWDB), asking “What is the likelihood of getting on [TWDB Director] Kathleen Jackson’s schedule before the Holiday Season takes over?” Later that same day TWDB General Counsel Todd Chenoweth replied to Mayor that “The best way to get the matter [approval or disapproval of the the revised Wimberley sewer plan] resolved expeditiously is to continue to have the city’s [Wimberley’s] consultants work with Texas Water Development Board staff to get the requested material to staff as quickly as possible.” Apparently City Council -- as of November 9 -- had not yet turned over to TWDB the additional documentation which TWDB had requested before it would rule on City’s request to switch to Aqua Texas (from Black Castle) for the treatment plant.

The City is going through its reserves at a rapid rate, and I’m sure Mayor fears City will soon have no funds left if TWDB doesn’t come through with an okay to release money to be used for the Aqua Texas option.

Mayor reminded TWDB attorney Chenoweth in a November 12 email that “[Capital Excavation] is still on schedule with installing the collection lines and we are hopeful that we can give them the green light to finish without delay. However, without your assurance of continued [financial] support we are hesitant to we [sic] proceed.”

Mayor further stated that “We have given notice to the [treatment] plant constructor [Black Castle] for termination and are in the process of finding a reasonable settlement.” Clearly, still no termination agreement has been reached between City and Black Castle.

Mayor Jaggers has said that in January she hopes finally to hold a Town Hall meeting concerning the sewer system. Unless the City delivers the required documents to TWDB soon, it’s doubtful that Mayor will have anything to report to citizens in January. Except possibly,

“The City has run out of money.”
