KWB volunteers

KWB volunteers span the generations.

We have those that are retired to those still juggling work and family — and then there is the next generation of community-minded young adults that want to help in their own way. Many have been helping Keep Wimberley Beautiful over the last few years with its trash pickup days by safely cleaning up around the area school parking lots and in their own neighborhoods. KWB has had classes at different schools that have participated in wildflower seed stomping, as well as those that produced beautiful artwork that has been displayed on the sides of the trash cans around the Square.

In addition, KAPS helped as a part of their volunteer program on MLK Day to clean up around the Square and Martha’s Park. KWB expected five students, but the final number was around 30.

Local youth groups have also done their part. For example, Scout Troop #127 sends several young men to help with Shred-It Day each fall.

KWB has supported several youth projects around town with the recent construction of the new kiosk at Sunrise Park (on RR 12 before the Junction).

“Thank you to everyone who played a part in its construction and that of the newly designed poster featuring local Park information,” KWB said in a statement. “Stop for a moment the next time you drive by and check it out.”

KWB is looking to support other beautification projects dreamed up by local young adults and children. If you are a teacher or lead a youth group and you have an idea that KWB can support, email keepwimberleybeautiful@ gmail.com.

This month’s thank you goes to The Candy Cottage for allowing KWB access to their amenities to help us take care of the planters on the Square. It takes a village, and their support has been crucial to KWB’s service and success.
