Czichos deserves the recognition

With reference to your excellent article this week on Carroll Czichos, I would like to add a few facts that are probably unknown to most folks living in the area today.

Without the efforts of Carroll Czichos there might not be a Wimberley EMS as we know it today. Back in the 70’s, when we formed what was then the North Hays County EMS, Carroll was the first Training Coordinator for the ECA/EMT classes that were being held in each of the five communities (Dripping Springs, Henly, Driftood, Rolling Oaks, and Wimberley.

Each community had classes once a week and Carroll was responsible for coordinating the classes with the Texas Department of Health, obtaining instructors, moving training equipment between the various training sites several times a week, and keeping the required records. This went on for months and Carroll was always there.

And it all wasn’t just administrative jobs that Carroll undertook. I still remember that cold winter night in the barn at 7A when Carroll and I installed the radio equipment in our brand-new (used) ambulance.

With Carroll’s tireless help we managed to put together a fine volunteer organization that has evolved into the superb professional organization it is today. And he managed to do all that and still be super active in the WVFD as described in your article.

Thanks you Carroll Czichos!
