The City of Woodcreek Just Raised Your Taxes

The Woodcreek City Council just voted 4 -1 to RAISE your taxes. In fact, the City’s’ Agenda packet specifically referred to a “Public Hearing on TAX INCREASE.” I advocated for a LOWER tax rate that would have been revenue neutral – which would NOT take anymore money out of your pocket. I was out-voted and the City was successful in raising your taxes as stated in the agenda.

As to the Constable, I did not vote against their contract as it wasn’t even on the agenda. I DID vote against the proposed budget as it:1) raised your taxes; and 2) committed us to continue paying the Constable $63,660 a year to handle traffic enforcement for us without any oversight or accountability. I don’t see that this large expenditure with the Constable has helped us one bit with our traffic issues. There has been no radar or other traffic enforcement – instead we have gotten a dummy setting in a parked car for a couple of weeks. That’s not worth $63,000

That’s why I voted the way I did. I stand by it.
