Herb Smith

Herb Smith, of Wimberley, Texas left this earth on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at age 85, after a life well lived. Susan, his wife and loving companion of 38 years, was by his side as she was in life.

Virginia “Jann” Manning Lunny, 76, of Wimberley, Texas, died on Monday, October 18, 2021. Marie Josephine Colby

Marie Josephine Colby of Wimberley, Texas died Friday, October 15 at the Clarewood House Extended Care Facility in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Patrick Colby, on February 28, 2002. She is survived by son Paul A. Colby of Houston, Texas; son Fred V. Colby (and wife Anne) of Katy, Texas; daughter Teresa M. Colby Pelanne of Bellaire, Texas; son James E. Colby (and loving family member Marlane Kayfes) of Houston, Texas; grandchild Chris Colby of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchild Joel Pelanne (and loving family member Masha Zhebrak) of Houston, Texas; grandchild Bridget Pelanne (and fiancé Bryan Lassiter) of Houston, Texas; and grandchild Sarah Burchfield (and husband Peter Burchfield) of Katy, Texas. Marie was born April 8, 1927 in East Bernard, Texas, the only child of Ludwik Kopecky and Emily “Millie” Petrash. She lived with her parents in East Bernard and Corpus Christi in the 1930s; the family then moved to Houston, Texas in the 1940s. She was a member of the National Honor Society while at Sam Houston High School, from which she graduated in 1945. She married Paul Patrick Colby late in 1947. While living in Houston, Marie was first a homemaker and then a school teacher (from the late 1950s to the early 1970s). In 1977, she and her husband moved to Wimberley, and Marie did the books for their company, EduCare Products Sales. While living in Wimberley, she was affiliated with the Saint Mary’s Altar Guild and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 6441. In lieu of flowers, Marie has requested donations to Saint Mary’s Church of Wimberley and the Wimberley E.M.S. The family sincerely appreciates the love and care Marie received at Clarewood House. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Thomason Funeral Home.

June Carol Smith Oliver Ault

June died peacefully at home surrounded by family. A most remarkable artist, feminist, and trailblazer, June loved and was loved by everyone she met, and her friends are too numerous to count. Pro fessionally trained as an artist, educator, and social worker, June’s talents were boundless. Married first to Red Oliver, with whom she bore three daughters, they shared a love of nature, camping, and birdwatching. Her marriage of forty-five years to Henry Winston Ault was filled with joy. Together they danced the honkytonks of Texas, traveled the world, and loved until the end.

Stephen Lawrance Carver

Stephen Lawrance Carver was born on April 23, 1943 in New York City and was present with the Lord on September 28, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Joanna, son, Auden, son and daughter-in-love, Matthew and Michelle Wakefield, daughter, Callie Gerke, and grandsons, Amari and Carter Wyatt. He was also survived by his brothers, Victor Carver, Douglas Carver and wife, Fran Carver, and his sister, Jacki Price, sister-in-law, Jennifer Fore and husband, Larry Fore, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Carter and husband, William Carter, and nieces and nephews. Steve and Joanna have lived in Wimberley for 17 years and attended Bethel Austin Church. Steve’s Celebration of Life service will be held on October 16, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Bethel Austin Establish fund or Saved by Grace Ministries, Canyon Lake, Texas.

Patricia “Patty” Thompson Meyers of Wimberley, Texas, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family at 8:15 p.m. on August 29, 2021, at the age of 90. A funeral mass will be said at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wimberley, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, and is available for all family and friends. A funeral luncheon will follow in the St. Mary Parish Activity building.

Norris Bendele of Hondo; sister Connie J. Shows (husband Gerald/ Jerry) of Boerne. Dorothy McCrocklin Arthur

Dorothy McCrocklin Arthur and her big smile went to be with her Lord on September 23rd, 2021. Theodore McCrocklin & Gertrude Corley McCrocklin were blessed with the birth of Dorothy on January 4th, 1922 in Campti, Louisiana. After graduation from Campti High School, Dorothy moved to Waco, Texas, where she lived for a short period of time while attending Business School. Later she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where Dorothy met the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, Orvis T. Arthur. The two of them were married after a brief courtship. Later they moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised their three children.
