John Carl Kasper, Jr. was born on September 27, 1930 in Port Neches Texas to John Carl Kasper and Anna Lou Borel Kasper.. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patty) Hebert, on December 22, 1950, after entering military service. John and Patty Kasper were married for 67 years spending 20 years in the military traveling extensively. Their travels included destinations in this country and abroad, having been stationed overseas in Scotland, Germany, and South Korea. Upon military retirement in 1972 they settled in their beloved Wimberley valley, where he served as the Food & Beverage Manager for Woodcreek Resort during their “hey day” in the early 70s before eventually retiring. Reba Howard Montague, 75, of Kyle, passed away on September, 30th 2020 in New Braunfels, Texas.

Audrey Skuza Curtis, long time Wimberley resident passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. She was an artist, a past member of the garden club, New Neighbors and the Wimberley Book Club. She volunteered at the visitors center for years and her art work was featured there. She loved animals and especially her dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Walter Makepeace Curtis in 1996. She is survived by her daughter Laura Walsh and husband Robert , her grandson Evan Walsh and nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Brookdale Senior Living and Deer Creek of Wimberley and to neighbors Sherman and Vicki Brodbeck who treated her as their own. The family will hold a private memorial.

On September 30, 2020, Floyd Thompson passed peacefully into heaven to meet his Lord and Savior. Floyd was born on July 29, 1938, in Merryville, Louisiana where he graduated from high school in 1957. While in high school he participated in football and track, and he always enjoyed talking about the good times shared with his friends and classmates. After graduation, he joined the Marines and was stationed in San Diego. Later he attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles where he received a B.S. in Pure and Applied Science as well as his MEd in Guidance and Counseling.

Frances Diane Barrington, 63, of Wimberley, Texas, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Our precious son, Darek Tyler Biggs, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. He was born to Darin and Jennifer Biggs on October 29, 2003 in San Marcos, Texas joining his sister Kristen and brother Dayton.

Joann Watson Pittman passed away September 15, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side.

Jay Cowan Tapp – successful businessman, proud father, and advocate for the Blanco River – passed away peacefully in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 8, 2020. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 17, 1935 and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Jay’s life was forever changed by a high school teacher who challenged him to meet his potential. After graduating from Rice University with a degree in engineering, Jay attended Harvard Business School. Following that, Jay returned to Houston where he and his wife Jacquelyn raised their three sons. Over the course of his career, Jay served as president of Kirby Business Systems; joined the Young President’s Organization; chaired the board of St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas; traveled extensively around the world; and held many other positions in business and real estate, both in Houston and Austin. One of the proudest accomplishments of Jay’s life took place in the 1970s when he successfully fought the proposed Clopton Crossing Reservoir, which would have inundated the Blanco River Valley, including his beloved ranch on the Blanco River in Wimberley that he stewarded for decades. Asked about the experience, Jay (whose sense of humor was always wry) commented, “relenting has never been my strong suit.” After ten years in Austin, Jay moved to his ranch full-time with his second wife Leslie McGrath where they delighted in riding horses, swimming in the river, raising their daughter, and sharing their beautiful home with their many friends. A great outdoorsman, Jay spent many happy summers hiking in Colorado and participating in the Colorado Chautauqua community. In his later years, Jay retired in Houston where he served as the president of the West McGregor Homeowners Association, assisting with an effort to restore a historic Texas cemetery, and as a board member for the Ensemble Theatre. Jay will be deeply missed and remembered for his generosity, acts of service, intelligence, curiosity, and ability to enjoy the best that life had to offer. He is predeceased by his first wife Jacquelyn Tapp and his beloved sister Lindl Tapp Graves. He is survived by his sons Felix Cowan Tapp II (Frances), Jay Bartell Tapp (Carolyn), Filson Bates Drane Tapp (Meg), daughter Anne Mariah McGrath Tapp, granddaughter Addison Bartell Tapp, and former spouses Leslie McGrath, Grayson Cecil and Marcia Chaney. On Saturday, September 5, 2020 Peggy Suzanne Snodgrass, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, lost her battle with heart disease at the age of 84. Peggy was born on April 3, 1936 in Cleburne Texas to Morris Sheppard and Jimmie Hopkins. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Morris Sheppard and Jimmie Jones Hopkins and her sister Carol Jane Hopkins. She is survived by her husband Joseph Robert Snodgrass, daughters Vivian Page and husband Richard, Suzanne Adele Naccarato and husband Steve, son Joseph Berkley Snodgrass and wife Laurie, and brother, John Hopkins. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Michael Naccarato, Nicole Snodgrass, Katie Martin, Sam Naccarato, Alec McKelvey, Jennifer Snodgrass, Suzanne McKelvey, and Thomas Naccarato.

Robert Duke Moreman, Jr. died on September 3, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Martha Luan Carter Brunson Haynes, 88, of Wimberley, Texas, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020. She was born September 29, 1931, in Anna, Illinois. A complete obituary can be found at www.neptunesociety.com

Rick was born to Richard Lee and Peggy Reames Kolb in San Angelo, Texas. He drifted away from us to reside with his Lord in 2020. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Anne Barnett of Houston; his sisters Maudie and husband Jim Templeton in Wimberley; Velma Edwards in Wimberley; DeeAnna and husband Gary Bishop in Burnet; and brother Richard Wayne “Peewee” and wife Jeanie of Llano, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Hazel L. Greathouse Dollar; and his sister Linda Joyce Schultz. Among other things, Rick was a congenial friend, and ac complished carpenter, and loved photograph. Most of all, he loved his family and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Though he lived several years in assisted living quarters before he passed on, he will always live in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace, Rick.
